Update 11: With respect, Paul, another estimable USA political party would be a second, not a third such. In total number of political parties, it would be a fourth, fifth or sixth — I think, I’m not an expert in these enumerations — joining the Ruling (D-R) Party, the Green Party, the Independent Party, the Communist Party (? in one of its denominations) and the Muslim Brotherhood Presence/Party.
I’m sure you know Codevilla on the matter of ruling (R-D establishment) and country (everyone else) parties. Perhaps you demur upon his taxonomy. Existentially/functionally, that taxonomy is operative and not a few, even among my fellow, low-privileged peons, see that it is. My point being: any estimable candidacy opposing the R-D cartel would be a second, not a third, party.

Update 14: However, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that no such star is high on the list of those being mentioned. Assuming those stars actually have light sufficient for a career of staring, I’m glad none is on Trump’s short list — precisely because they are political stars, careerist professional politicians!!! I’d like in office anyone BUT a professional politician, anyone BUT one who craves the office, anyone who is NOT thinking about THEIR future.
The very mind-set which produces the concept of a political star with a future I find smug, anxious, cynical, elitist, and un-American. If you want my vote because you want your concept of a career for yourself, you don’t give a damn about my soul and you don’t deserve my vote. You deserve the sole of my shoe.
Update 15: Parties may be fine. I don’t know. Humans tend to group, so probably fine or not, parties are inevitable. Two things I see happening now with respect to R and D parties:
1- they have seriously grouped to R-D Party, and
2- they are merely grabbing for preeminence within their group.
Responsibility for citizens, national security and national sovereignty they feel none. Opportunities geo-political rather than merely financial they see none. Conceptual framework for not only managing but leading history they have none. Coordination of what they say with what they do they want none.
Grabbing the chief’s feather in a closed circle of spiteful, ignorant, ignoble, pusillanimous, infantilized adults is their wish. Weak? In a manner of speaking, yes. But that’s not the full of it.
Obsolete is closer. A second political party is forming, gradually, so far without a name, or language for a synergistic frame of reference, but those are in the offing. The third party that’s forming is Muslim. [See next Update!!]
Update 16: Were I POTUS, and to roll up that combination, I would ask the Hashemites how much of the Arabian Peninsula they would like under their stewardship and present them with it. Dave, take heart. E Pluribus Unum is alive and well, even in senior reaches of the federal executive branch, even now. And it just forced the end of dissolution, aka globalism.
With genuine leadership and actual truth-telling, the multi-racial, multi-religious American voter can be trusted. Lo and behold! We do not think nationalistically, we think patriotically, because we are multi-racial and multi-religious, E Pluribus Unum, and proud of it.
Well, we finally have a second political party, at least in nascent being. But I mis-saw its origin. I thought it would develop from patriots cracking and replacing the Republican component of the Democratic-Republican Uniparty. Instead, it appears to be developing from the Democratic component of said Uniparty breaking Salafist Jihadi and breaking away from its Republican minions.
We will see, I suppose, whether said minions — RINOs — break Salafist Jihadi along with their Democratic handlers. It is good to have two political parties. Good for both of them. Clarity is a virtue and nothing vexes confusion more than a beheading knife.

Update 19: Globalists from patriotic states are going to be thrown out of office. If that admits a globalist from another party to office, fine. Price of war. The electorate in all states is patriotic and therefore anti-globalist and will find a way to make their patriotic wishes effective in D.C.
GOP candidates should hike up their skirts, burn their worry beads, pull shoulders back and heads up and preach what POTUS Trump did on the stump. Courage, not fretting, is indicated. And perseverance. Do what is needful and proper and the money will be there. Dharma protects those who protect Dharma.

Update 21: With respect, Sundance, I believe your logic is incomplete. You know Ds and Rs are a UniParty, yet you speak of another party as a would-be third party. It would be a second party. Cheney is showing that there is at the moment only one party, the one party you yourself have identified now for many years, and rightly so.
SCOTUS demonstrated the same fact of D-R UniParty, as do the heads and sub-heads of Executive Branch agencies. USA has been under one-party governance rule for two decades at least, save four years when POTUS Trump was in office instead of, as now, in exile. I do not understand why you do not understand this, that another party would be a second party, not a third party. It begs to me as such simple logic.
Related: a few days ago you wrote of POTUS Trump losing the 2020 election for POTUS. But he did not lose it, he won it. Again, I do not understand why you do not understand that and stick by saying the truth. Is your strength to bind your consciousness to the truth so weak? I want not to believe that it is.
My friend, it is time to think to solutions, look for opportunities. We do not need more redundant rehearsal of problems. We know what they are. Rehearsing them now is outrage porn. For example: we need a generation or five of children reared and wanting to have good character. To make that happen, mothers and fathers — especially mothers — must, among other things, revere the homeschool and respect the five professional guilds: Theology, Medicine, Military Arts, Law, Pedagogy.
You keep comms open. This is a wonderful service. I urge their use for adducing solutions, not repeating known problems.
