Nine slideshows were created at Adwaitha Hermitage during the 1980s and 1990s. These comprised photographs indoors and out, photographs of coloring book pictures, photographs of credits / titles, and a sound track. The sound tracks were put onto cassette tapes, which we keep and have yet to digitize. Timing scripts were made to indicate when with the sound track the next slide was to be shown.
For a presentation, one hermit turned on the sound track, one operated the Kodak slide projector, and one with a regular watch followed the timing script to tug the projectionist’s clothing when the next slide was indicated. The side shows were fun to make and fun to present. Their audiences were very small but the shows appreciated.
Our equipment comprised Nikon 35mm cameras / high speed lenses, Yamaha sound mixer and recording / playback devices, umbrellas and other studio accessories, some home-made, lots of Kodachrome film in 25, 64, and 200 ISO, some Fujichrome and Velvia in 50 and 100 ISO, and some 3M in 1000 ISO. The 3M film has turned reddish but has a certain whatsit. The Kodachrome has stayed true to itself. The Fuji film has deteriorated little or not at all.
These slide shows were scanned using an Epson Perfection V800 flatbed scanner updated to April 2021 software version. I have not — or have not yet — digitized the sound tracks and blended those with the pictures of their respective slide shows.
