RAMANAM
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. Amen.
Countrymen,
ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT
A man does everything he can think of doing, this side of evil, to make happen what he wants to happen. That is what a man does.
All my life I have tried to be the most up-to-date mind of the 19th Century. I have failed. But God knows, I tried.
Real progress — strength and happiness — always is a result of subtraction (renunciation), never a result of addition (acquisition).
The Army makes the Law legal.
The Democratic Party has chosen to be a uni-class regional party, not a multi-ethnic, multi-class, multi-religious national party. They have broken apart the D-R UniParty coalition, who thought of themselves as a national party even though they were a uni-class, self-aggrandizing party.
Personally, I think Ds broke the UniParty because John McCain left this breathing world and that left Republicans with no RINO platform, so suddenly Rs could be exposed to withering fire (Feinstein). This forces the R wing of the D-R UniParty to find ground to rally upon (Kavanaugh/Graham) outside McCain’s RINO/D-R UniParty coalition, which had tried and failed to bury Donald Trump.
The battle now, as Codevilla pointed out some years ago, and again here, is between ruling class and country class, not political parties. The distinction is seminally important. We have the Trump movement. It is a multi-ethnic, multi-class, multi-religious movement DJT just happens currently to lead. Many more leaders are behind him, getting the feel for how this new socio-political landscape shapes and works.
Rs and Ds have nothing to do with it now. Except Rs could, if they want, become a true national party, in which case Rs redefine themselves, as our younger generations would prefer, as multi-ethnic, multi-class, and multi-religious. But NOT multi-cultural. We have one culture, American, and we all belong to it. Such a party would have no opposition now as a national party because Ds have resoundingly renounced being a national party. They have abjured being a multi-ethnic, multi-class, multi-religious political party.
Ds now are an anti-national, uni-class, regional, tribal gang of nasties, a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous, and cruel. They remain a criminal conspiracy while no longer masquerading as a national political party.
Ds have opened opportunity for a full-scale, actual national political party to sweep the nation’s spirit — an open field run — into strength and happiness. What a gift! With luck the country class movement will unwrap the gift and make it work. POTUS Trump certainly is doing all he can think of to make that happen. It must be a whole-of-class engagement.
I see not a wave, Red or Blue, but a sea change wherein and whereby anti-Americans — leftists/lawless NGO and government operators — find immunity receding away from them and impunity setting on their horizons.
Strong concur. John McCain was diverting and damming up the waters of MAGA. His vacating history has made all the difference in the world. Now let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. Not just drain the swamp, sluice it out.
All the readers of The Campaign Update are smart and attractive people, so you all are no doubt horrified at the thought of what would have happened to the Supreme Court had the 2016 election turned out differently. The Scalia vacancy would have been immediately filled by Merrick Garland — or someone worse — upon the coronation of the Pantsuit Princess, and the Kennedy vacancy would have been filled by some nitwit from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals or the ACLU, in all likelihood.
That outcome would have literally ended our constitutional democracy for all intents and purposes. The First, Second, Fourth, Fifth and Tenth amendments would have come under withering assault in the courts, and would have been rendered meaningless within a few years. The Interstate Commerce Clause would have evaporated, and private property rights would have followed shortly.
People with common sense should never let themselves forget the heinous actions of the mindless #NeverTrump, fake conservatives among us. We should always remember that people like Bill Kristol and George Will and S.E. Cupp and Stephen Hayes and Jennifer Rubin and Ross Douthat and Jonah Goldberg and Brett Stephens and the entire staffs at the Weekly Standard and the National Review (with a couple of notable exceptions) literally advocated that our nation would be better off with the Fainting Felon as our president. These people all advised their readers to vote for a career criminal, the person who told us in no uncertain terms that her presidency would simply be a continuation of the Obama presidency, to become our 45th President instead of Donald Trump.
Never forget #NeverTrump, because these people, who have held themselves out to be conservatives to their duped audiences for many years, literally advocated for the condemnation of our children and their children to live in a United States of America that would irreversibly become a European-style quasi-socialist quasi-democracy. It was forgivable — even understandable — for this clan of fake conservatives to favor other Republicans for the GOP nomination — hell, I even did that for awhile. But these people can never be forgiven for this and can never be trusted by any thinking person again for their outright support of the Grasping Grifter.

I see not a wave, Red or Blue, but a sea change wherein and whereby anti-Americans (leftists/lawless NGO and government operators) find immunity receding away from them and impunity setting on their horizons.
I take Sundance’s point but I think Pedro’s here is more comprehensive.
Sundance, I think you are giving the swamp too much credit for intelligence, fore-sight, fore-knowledge, and competence. Corrupt people by definition are weak people and know that they are. This is why they scurry around in private and smirk in public.
As I write, Brett Kavanaugh is not yet confirmed to SCOTUS. Game is not over.
What I think is over is American women cowering in fear for their lives and the lives of their husbands, sons, and brothers. Brett Kavanaugh may remain on the appeals bench. But this swamp chaos is not going to happen again.
Were I to predict anything at this point with some considerable amount of certainty, it would be that one, two, or all three of the faces in the graphic Sundance appends in conclusion will be a private citizen soon after the Senate votes on confirming Judge Kavanaugh to SCOTUS . . . whichever way the vote goes.
Pedro’s Point:
Great points Sundance but consider:
1 the plot failed
2 there is a connection between spygate and brettgate
3 POTUS could reveal
4 consider why did it fail. The FBI wray could have easily delayed or expanded the investigation to undercut POTUS. What happened? The FBI did a half assed narrow investigation in 5 days. That was not what the small group expected. They made a miscalculation. Things are not what they thought. Why did McCabe leak to nyt. Things were not what they thought. I would have to assume Trump now has leverage or control of more things than the small group assumes. Not 3d chess. POTUS has figured out where he can scratch. Why didn’t Mueller drop a bombshell? If the goal is to undermine Trump they are doing a horrible job. 2 years of huge wins. The only thing they stopped was ocare repeal because of McDead. Why didn’t flake or Collins buckle? How is Trump always pulling out wins? How come they couldn’t stop nafta2.0? Consider for 2 years Trump is beating them. Why are so many old rino swampers on board and doing his bidding? How come the swamp can not stop him? Something is going on that we can’t see. Wray and the FBI could have leaked, undermined Trump, and killed the nomination. Bomwich was counting on it. But he misplayed his hand. He is clever. What did he miss? Donald Trump after 2 years has dirt and leverage on lots of people it appears. That is his history. If someone doesn’t like you but they keep doing your bidding or stay out of your way . . . what does it tell you. The McDead ocare stunt has never occurred again. Why? How did flake come in line? You aren’t seeing what is in front of you! If the swamp was aligned against POTUS they could have sunk the tax cut bill and his presidency would have been over. 2 major failure and he was done. Obama did not accomplish in 8 years with a super majority what Trump has done in 2 years. Why? No 3d chess, but he works with allies or he leverages his enemies. It doesn’t matter either way. POTUS is a billionaire. He is 71. They can’t bribe him. T he swamp is dirty. He has kompramat on them. A corrupt person is easier to manipulate. Consider the fact the Donald Trump is a very very dirty fighter. You are not used to that. I am not used to that. I have no doubt he could get in the gutter with the Clintons and kick them in the balls. This is the same guy who brought Bill’s rape victims to a debate! Consider that POTUS is the dirtiest player in DC. Enjoy the ride. He is winning.
railer’s Point:
The Swamp is broad and deep. It is an organic system and will absorb those who enter it and blindly attempt to traverse it. There are pathways and high spots in the Swamp, which the astute make use of, but these cannot facilitate control of the Swamp. The Swamp doesn’t need to defeat anybody outright, they just need to wait until a Swamp entrant is absorbed. They always will be, to one degree or another, including Trump, if they fail to navigate properly.
Trump likely has understood the above all along. You know this from his narrative: Drain the Swamp. He didn’t say attack the Swamp, he said to drain it. Anyone involved in business understands this distinction, and an oft used strategic directive to drain the swamp. You don’t attack an entrenched institution, and you don’t flail away at a tinkering reformation of it. If the institution is defective and doesn’t suit your business model, you seek to lessen its place in your organization. You slowly defund it. You peel off portions of its institutional charter. You clarify its mission and force it to operate within those strict confines. The Swamp is an organic construct, and you address it organically, not with a sledgehammer.
Since Trump became president, the count of US federal employees has dropped by 16,000, as reported with the employment numbers this week. This signals Swamp draining is underway.
When Tillerson became SoS, he immediately set about rationalizing State’s structural model, streamlining, consolidating, combining, clarifying and otherwise sharpening State’s model as he’d done in the business world. Trump and he may not have agreed on overall foreign policy execution, but they agreed that this reorganization was a first imperative. The State sector of the Swamp was undergoing some draining. Corker and the rest of the Swamp creatures were aghast and squawked like wet hens but the process continued.
It’s not sexy, but this is how the Swamp will be drained. The Swamp wanted Trump to appoint Price as Sec of HHS. Trump went along with the Swamp’s request, under the assumption that Price would help get Obamacare repealed through Congress. That failed, and Price thus failed, and you see how quickly Trump got rid of him. He wasn’t the guy to reform HHS and drain the Swamp, so he was gone. There was some dirt on the guy re ethics, some claim, but we see how long Trump stuck with Pruitt at EPA despite real ethics complaints against him. Pruitt was the guy reforming EPA and draining that Swamp, and Trump didn’t move until it was clear Pruitt was finished, but meanwhile he’s installed another Swamp-drainer in Pruitt’s place, I don’t even know his name offhand but he’s not well received by the Swamp, unlike Price who the Swamp obviously loved.
I believe Trump is aware of all that the Swamp is, and he’s experiencing firsthand the Muh Russia conspiracy’s effects on his candidacy and presidency, so we’re certain he’s aware. But he knows a head-on assault likely cannot work, at least right now. These people are brazen because they can afford to be in their environment. I believe we’ll see jail sentences for some of these malefactors eventually, but not for quite some time. We need time and more draining, which we’re seeing across the board I believe. Meanwhile, Trump’s using the Swamp’s own constructs and personnel to combat the Swamp frontally, while he takes a passive role in that frontal assault. He endures no casualties resultant, and meanwhile the Swamp erodes and attritions itself within its self-made corrosive environment, with Trump perched on the increasingly more numerous Swamp highpoints. Trump’s like a whitetail buck back in that Swamp during hunting season. He finds a nice dry bed in the midst of the Swamp to lay down and take a nice sunbath, while those noisy and smelly hunters traipse around in the wet. He knows where each of them are and what they’ll do, and he’s got preplanned escape routes available for when they do it. He just has to make sure not to move around blindly, or his head might get mounted above somebody’s mantle.
The Swamp is pushing a lot of pure Swamp candidates for Congress, I notice, at least here in Michigan. If these candidates get whacked hard, look out, the pace of Swamp draining will be increasing. Time is not on the Swamp’s side, and the Swamp’s never envisioned somebody as clever as this Trump guy. He is smart and he is relentless. He takes time when time is on his side, and he pushes at the speed of Trump when the time is right. Overall, I’d say his judgment on when to deploy his initiatives has been spot on, and I’m not impatient over it.
railer’s Point anticipates this by Sundance: As The Worm Squirms . . . to which this by Tom Lipscomb is color, as usual for Tom, who was my editor many decades ago when he was at Prentice Hall’s Trade Division and I was graduating seminary.
My sense of things is that the auspicious departure of John McCain left the Republican backbone free to heal straight up and stiff. It also lured Democrats into over-confidence. Somehow, I feel, McCain’s departure signaled a time of getting better, stronger, instead of worse, weaker. With John unavailable, there is no credible RINO position.
Thus we hear lines about NeverTrumpers having a come to Jesus moment, so to speak. And we see Ben Domenech, in person, call out editor-at-large-and-getting-larger Bill Kristol, in person, and elements of his clique, in person, for not including Trump voters in their plots to dictate where things are going.
So yes, I am glad John McCain is not available for comment. His influence was malevolent on himself, his family, and his country. He was a personality who always wanted to be something he was not and was jealous of those who were what they wanted to be. He never grew up to act like a man. Such men are dangerous.
Our country is better off without him and strengthening tangibly in virtually all facets, on practically all fronts, upon his demise.
Well, partly, but the deeper reason it was all made up was to keep Russia in the enemy column, which is to say, keep the foreign policy establishment’s rice bowls convenient and full.
And the reason for that is that Russia had the temerity to throw off glorious Communism and revert to icky evil Christianity.
USA, India, and Russia share strategic interests and belong in deliberate alliance as three brother nations.
So they are doing what firefighters call a controlled burn or backfire. FWIW, that makes sense to me, reasonably answers the question of large-scale pattern recognition.
CIA did this in founding SDS, but that controlled burn — aimed at CPUSA — got away from them. SDS first merged with then climbed above CPUSA, then ate the latter’s lunch. Only the likes of Obama, Holder, and Brennan hewed to the CIA’s intent in re neutering CPUSA with SDS, and they were richly rewarded for their loyalty. But those and worthies like them also added to CIA’s agenda for SDS: they brought in the Salafi Jihad. Oh joy!
Are these dozens of FBI agents — including diGenova — said to be mortified by their colleagues’ perfidies also doing controlled burns, and, Here kitty, catch the laser dot!? Why would diGenova say such a huge thing and it not be true? Is he being sacrificed? Is he just taking media monies? Is he just setting an especially large controlled burn/backfire on behalf of fellow Deep Staters? A good actor can feign any posture, emotional, intellectual, or otherwise. Is Fox, at least in parts, part of the plot?
Lincoln said that a skunk’s downfall is the advertising it gives itself. There is a lot of frustration now over the abundance of talk and the absence of action.
Why do the nations rage so furiously together,
And why do the people imagine a vain thing?
The leaders of the nations take counsel against Him,
Against the Lord, and against His anointed.
“Let us be quit of Him, and throw away His guidance.”
But He Who dwells in Truth shall have them in derision.
My soul yearns for You, O Lord, my Friend:
Your right hand lifts me up.
Those who seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into despair.
They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
I shall rejoice in You; every one who trusts The Lord shall glory:
but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

You know, a sad thing for atheists/seculars is that they have neither scripture nor hymns to repair to for calm and steadiness in times of toil or mirth.
Oh, they have treatises and anthems, they can shout the slogans and chant La Marseillaise, but such are not calming, steadying. Slogans and leftist chants yield excitement whereas truth is in relaxation. And treatises and anthems do not survive the test of true value made by long experience, but scripture and the Kyrie do.

Mediocre, I think, is wide of the mark. Low-life keeps coming to my mind when I see, hear or read about these personalities, who are given over to sex, drugs, and venality and willing to maim and kill for them, without remorse. Classically, such ones are described as hysterical and often where institutionalized because they are dangerous. They are abnormals whose going about in public threatens the lives and livelihoods of normals. We see that clearly. Abnormals are disinclined to hide their condition and rather tend to pro-actively advertise it.
Hysterical means womb-ist. An hysterical person is one who acts as does a woman with no one to protect her whose womb is under attack.
Why does the left hate the freedom Trump heralds? Every move that Trump has made is in the direction of freedom and prosperity. What is so frightening about the American people being prosperous and in charge of their own destiny?
I’m serious, I don’t know what movie they’re watching inside of their heads, but it’s definitely not the one that’s playing right in front of them.
I don’t know what is more fatiguing: the never-ending and VILE tantrums from The Left, the active sabotaging of our warrior president’s agenda by the shameless RINOs or these “DUH” statements from OUR side regarding the OBVIOUS and the TRULY, profoundly guilty parties continue to roam free as you please with ZERO impunity while scrutinizing/manufacturing one idiotic ‘scandal’ after another to the cellular level our phenomenal president and anyone even tenuously associated with him. Ever. In. His. Life. ENOUGH with this disgusting sham of an investigation already! Investigate the investigators and all the blatant skeletons in Herr Mueller’s closet (Whitey Bulger, false imprisonment of innocents, et al). Evil evil man.

Update 1: John Hinderaker’s old news that is new to him: The Kavanaugh Smear And The FBI: A Connection?
Update 2: The end of John McCain keeps coming back to me as a huge moral/spiritual geography changer. Biggest, widest I can remember. He was suppressing, constricting the Spirit of America. The NVA prison maybe precipitated Stockholm Syndrome in him. Whatever, he was a beaten, brutal man of perpetual disappointment to himself. Thus Trump’s insightful remark that he prefers winners to those who get caught. Now the Spirit of America, who is not a disappointment to himself — quite the opposite — is in open-field running.
