I suspect solid conservative is a euphemism for sophisticated globalist.  The social orders today have dis-similar desires.

Today, the pedigreed orders want nation states replaced by ruling bureaucracies comprising unelected experts, technocrats, practitioners.  While, the common orders want their nation states led and governed by elegant, elected patriots who care about them, who protect them.

Donald Trump belongs to both of those orders, but his mission is to protect the common orders.  That means, to protect the USA as a sovereign nation state.  Naturally, globalists detest him.

A liberal could protect the USA as a sovereign nation state as easily as a conservative could.  It used to be that they did.  So liberal and conservative are meaningless categories today.  Today’s fight is between globalism and patriotism.  Donald Trump is on the patriotism side, offering to lead it.  Nativist globalists call persons with such impulses.

I have long suspected that Power Line team is mostly on the globalism side.  In any case, liberal and conservative — whether solid, liquid or gas — are concepts inapplicable to modern political, moral or intellectual phenomenology.

Your comments assume the Cold War is not over.  That Russia is the Soviet, shrunk.  Those are unexamined premises and they are false.

You earned blessings of respect and thanks.  Now rest on those laurels, because the windows you look out through no longer face reality.  You have no idea what is needed or what should be for the sake of USA national sovereignty.  You don’t know that you don’t know.

Update 3: Foreign policy is the gist of this election.  The fight is between globalists and nationalists.  The former want no foreign policy because they imagine no nation state.  The latter want a foreign policy because they see nation states, their own and others.  Hillary Clinton perfectly embodies the globalist mentality and Donald Trump perfectly embodies the nationalist spirit.  This election is to indicate whether the USA will continue and expand as a sovereign nation state or be dissolved into a global region ruled from afar by an oligarchic structure of unelected technocrats, experts, practitioners.

Update 4: Peggy Noonan says Americans have lost patience with ideologies (e.g., conservative principles), are looking for patriotism, which I think is at best a dilute interest at Power Line.

I think Peggy the The Fraud-Swooner is right in this observation and I think the American people are right in their reach for patriotism.  Blows the minds (aka rice bowls) of the Power Insiders.  They see spectral evocations of mindless Athenian democratic chaos, forcing Socrates to drink poison, yet.

But that’s not what’s happening in the American spirit.  What’s happening is feelings of loyalty to the mother country and the fellow citizen, because that feeling is natural and good, and because its opposite, national dissolution, is glaring chaos.

We can thank Washington insiders for this much at least: they have demonstrated in visible, open-source evidence the utter perniciousness of their ideologies, their principles.

Update 5: The Fraud with his Global Left Oligarchy tried to dissolve a sovereign nation.  They have not stopped trying.

My recommendations are where Trump’s thinking is leading.

His campaign members are alive to the matter at dispute, globalism or patriotism, dissolve the nation or maintain national sovereignty.  Trump’s campaign manager said exactly that over a month ago.  Everything else — everything — is auxiliary to that fundamental contention, which should not exist but does exist and thus must be engaged and won through.

And once one establishes that as the matter at issue, and is confident of the outcome as national sovereignty rather than national dissolution — DNC-RNC leader cadre plus their friends in the International Left want the latter; I am confident they are wrong and will lose the fight to the nationalist spirit — then one turns to contemplating the new national allegiance and alliance (they are different) structures that answer the imperative for inter-national freedom, quiet, inter-operability, security and prosperity.

Update 6: Donald Trump believes in USA national sovereignty.  The DNC-RNC and minions here and abroad have been trying to dissolve, and will never stop trying, the USA as a nation state.  Patriots VS Globalists.  That’s the fight.

This is just common sense.  Absent the Obama aberration, no president would think to say it.

Calling that line common sense is haughty, sententious spite.  The line was the central doctrinal declaration of the speech, and the glance of POTUS and the cameras to the Ds upon its completion was Shakespearean in dramatic effect and de-cision.

Lewandowski said, rightly, long ago that the election was about globalism and patriotism, meaning, we will have one and not the other.  In that glance and lens last evening, Ds declared themselves globalists, which is not news, but is now on record, en masse, or nearly so.  Roger Simon today wonders if D is dead as a party.  If so, their Globalism/Soros-ism is the reason.

It is not nice to fight mother nature (Dharma).  And certainly not intelligent.
