Have A Little Fun With Them

RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.

Countrymen,

Eleven Regions
Eleven Regions

Over at Power Line today Steven Hayward posted in mock-disbelief regarding an interview of one ripe fruit — or fruity ripe — named John D. Caputo, by The New York Slimes.  In the comments to Hayward’s post, one Steven Litvintchouk lets forth at Hayward as follows:

Are you serious?

Christianity had very little to do with it. And after the Roman Empire, Christian Europe collapsed into feudalism, superstition, tribal wars, and witch-burnings.

Logic and reasoning were pioneered by Plato, Aristotle, and the other ancient Greeks (though were were precursors in India and China). Our modern concepts of logic are descended from Aristotelian logic.

The very word “logic” is of Greek etymology.

The only thing that the Church in medieval Europe did was to try to preserve some of the intellectual heritage of the Greeks and Romans in the face of feudalism.

I’ve noticed how some Christians have an overinflated view of their religion’s contribution to science and technology. They are just ignorant of what other cultures had created long before.

Three commenters took aside said Litvintchouk for additional instruction and then I could not resist a ring:

Steven Litvintchouk: Were I a professor of, say, History of the Latin Church or History of Christian Thought, I would give your statement as a term final with this assignment: In 100 pages or less, substantiate or vacate. And I would offer $1000 and a year’s supply of the 12-Year Glenfiddich to any who could substantiate it and an A+ to any who could vacate it. Maybe I would have to make that 2 years of the Glenfiddich just to keep everyone from trying to vacate it.

‘Tis best to laugh at the ignorant, the belligerent and/or the evil.  Have a little fun with them.

Update 1: The Real Deal.

Update 2: Reconstituting The Militia.

Update 3: Why The American Church Should Go Off The Grid.

Update 4: Sultan Knish: No More Mr. Nice Conservative

Kurt Schlichter concurs.

Update 5: Colin Woodward: Eleven American nations.  Woodward’s purpose is to justify national gun confiscation, but along the way his analysis of American regions — he calls them nations in order to divide the country to ease confiscation — is accurate and useful.  Has a fine map supporting.
