Chaitanya Jyothi Museum Opening, 2000

RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.

Countrymen,

ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT

My feeling is that Almighty Providence has seen fit, for reasons unknown to me, to induce an unprecedented but not surprising array of phenomena (facts, but phenomena implies their integration, which is important) to overwhelm geo-strategic, national security and national defense assumptions dating from Kennan and before, and by this array of phenomena the civ and much of the mil academic intellectual generator has been shorted out and destroyed as if by EMP. So even with dim bulbs electing dim bulbs to govern them — hubris is a darkness, not, as it seems to many now, a light — Providence just has not given them, any of them, a chance to use their accustomed generator to its design purpose, which is to provide bright bulbs to national leadership responsibilities. Mil academe still has some generating capacity, even using obsolete equipment, but judging, for example, by the crap coming out of CTC at West Point — cribbing from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is Anti-American/Communist, yet — that is not guaranteed to last.

Where God closes one door He opens another, as the saying rightly goes. From several directions there are movements afoot to take education local and classical. That, of course, is the answer to the array of phenomena Providence has employed to zap the civ and much of the mil academic intellectual generator. That is how, slowly but surely, to ensure voters pre-select for leadership with superior intellectual capacity, actual computing power, rather than deadheads, whom voters favor now.

Felicitously, part of the local and classical movement in education is towards reuniting monastery and school, which came apart or were driven apart centuries ago, except in the military dimension of culture, such as West Point, where monastery and school have remained mostly united: military life and mission are monastic in nature and West Point is a school for the military arts. Monastery and school, even in the civilian dimension, belong together. And by monastery today one means a single person or a procreating husband and wife who are celibate/chaste respecting other men and women, bereft of desire for others’ wealth and loyal to one another and their children above all others.

The mil guys I see are doing everything they can see to do to protect US Armed Forces and the Nation by keeping awareness of operational facts alive and pushing information regarding those facts where it should go. I think that is a fine service.
