RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
Countrymen,
Piling up regulations and ordinances to control every human activity, private and public, to choice-architect the totality of human life, personal, family and group, to nudge or shove one’s fellow citizens, every last one of them, down roads one alone and in concert with one’s colleagues decides to allow travel upon or not is Jewish (Talmud) and Caliphist (Sharia). It is not Christian.
Nowhere in the literature or history of The Church, Greek or Latin, has anyone essayed the absolutist and totalitarian mini-micro-management of human existence intended by the authors of the Talmud — privately, for Jews only — and the Sharia — universally, for every person any where.
Talmud and Sharia are government writ large. In fact, writ totally, though not for the same subjects. Talmud is government for Jews only. Sharia is government for the whole world. The Rabbis are not universalists. Judaism is not monotheistic. It is monolatrous. The Koran Scholars are universalists. Islam is monotheistic, although not trinitarian. What passes for Islam today, however, both Sunni and Shiite, is Idolatry of Koran and Mohammed.
In both cases, Jewish and Caliphist, the authors of said absolute totalism are clerics, clergy, scholars, stewards of sacral literature and objects. Christian clergy have never dared to assert such a thing, such mind-boggling, spirit-crushing management of human life, love and labor as Talmud and Sharia are. Some Christian clergy and scholars have asserted domineering ideas and rules but never anything on the scale of Talmud and Sharia. And they and their handiwork were always quickly — historically speaking — disabused of their totalist impulses.
When totalism and its stall-mate absolutism come down the pike, their form is clerical claiming sacral origin and authority. Heavy hoofs indeed.
The Christian attitude towards government is simple and dialectical. On the one hand, Christians accept government as necessary for protection from evil doers foreign and domestic. On the other hand, Christians limit the reach of government into their privacy, property and freedom. Christians intrinsically reject the impulse for absolute totalism that produces Talmud and Sharia. They find that impulse demonic.
The Constitution of the United States of America expresses the Christian attitude towards government. That document, together with its companion, The Declaration of Independence and its prototype, The Declaration of Arbroath, is the Christian answer to Talmud and Sharia.
Federal, state and local politicians and bureaucrats and their oligarchic corporatist cronies, who pile up regulations and ordinances to invade to control ever more human activity, behave as if Rabbis and Koran Scholars with the impulse for Talmud and Sharia. They are neither Christians nor Americans.
