Socialism is the desperate effort to replace reality as represented specifically by Christianity and civilizations it creates with a wish raised by a thought. The thought is, I know better than Christians do what is true and needful. The wish is, I want to make what I know real. Socialism is speculative art joined to heuristic zeal.
Socialism could not exist without Christianity. Its philosophical/intellectual root is classical European humanism, primarily Dutch (Erasmus) and French (Abelard, Voltaire, Rousseau). It is, one might say, a supreme example of ego’s perpetual youth.
Socialism is humanists’ answer to their wish to supersede Christianity … and what with. Humanism is the thought (philosophy), socialism is the wish (practice). The end of Christianity is the holy grail of humanists with their beloved socialism.
So far, five waves of socialism have swept over, into and through Latin and Greek Christian civilizations, and one is drawing itself up to break over.
Wave the first was from outside the churches and governments: The Reign of Terror in France. It failed to supersede Christianity and produced an imperialist dictator, a warmonger.
Wave the second was from inside the churches, industry-owning families and at least one government (the German): the Liberal Christianity of Ritschl and, effectively, von Bismarck. It failed to supersede Christianity and produced a hot retort (Barth), a third wave of socialism and the permanent collapse of the relevance of the parish-judicatory structure favored by the churches.
Wave the third was from inside academe and governments: Progressivism. Progressivism burned against reality, as did its predecessors, and not only failed to supersede Christianity but also killed itself: it spent the last dollar of socialism’s intellectual and moral capital. Progressivism produced the end of socialism and humanism as attractive ideas.
Therefore, all subsequent waves of socialism have been compelled to rely on compulsion — force, duplicity, fraud, murder, theft — to drive their now-pretense of power and benevolence forward. Socialism lost its war against Christianity. Everyone knows socialism does not work, including socialists. Socialism is bad medicine.
Wave the fourth, as also wave the first, was from outside the churches and governments: the Janus of nazism and communism. Nazism was worship of powers of nature. Communism was worship of a doctrine of historical determinism. These faces of socialism sought to supersede Christianity and failed, producing, as also wave the first, genocide.
Wave the fifth, as also wave the third, was from inside academe and governments as well as also now foundations, industry-owning families and labor unions: the multi-national, aspiring trans-national Globalism. It failed to supersede Christianity but succeeded in making itself odious as well as ridiculous by pushing socialism’s now-pretense of power and benevolence down the world’s throat and up its backside. Genocide, unsurprisingly, follows upon Globalists‘ ministrations, as blood does the lance. Globalism failed to supersede Christianity and produced world-wide harm, heartache and horror. Now wave the sixth is drawing up to break over Christianity and flatten Him, this time from inside the medical profession: Paulistas — pace inhabitants of the state of São Paulo, Brazil — or what is the same thing, Me-Me-ists/Millennials. Again, without attractiveness, without intellectual or moral capital, comprising a pretense of power and benevolence. Humanists never give up. And they join with Caliphists, fellow socialists but not humanists, essaying again to supersede Christianity. Molon labe.
Christianity remains and that means so do socialists. But one is a simple power and one is an ugly pretense.
What should Christians do? Target the perps. Offer them a little dance.

Update 2: Scott Johnson’s acquaintance describes the beast: So from this position of invincible ignorance allied with moral perfection and then allied with power, you could become able to cross a line in history to reach a new world shaped by your conviction of your perfected sensibility.
Update 3: But I think this describes the beast a little bit better: Mental illness in the White House? Modern discourse disallows reference to the vertical component of life and so treats evil, which arrives through that component, as a mental disease, as belonging to the horizontal component of life. This restriction distorts and attenuates analysis of any condition in which evil operates and makes conclusions regarding any such condition superficial and unsatisfactory. The personality in question is indeed mentally ill, but that is only the half of it. Were he/she only that, they would have been unmasked and cauterized decades ago. It is the other half of their phenomenology, the one arriving on the vertical component of life, which accounts for their having got so far as they have. It is also what makes them globally rather than merely locally dangerous and destructive. No mere mad-man could cause even just the havoc already wrought by this personality, much less the unimaginable but certain “more to come” we have yet to observe and cope with as best we can.

Several New Testament parables are used, since decades, to equate Christianity with Communism. Virtually the entire “mainline denomination” leadership, to include now Roman Catholics, concurs at least in principle with that equation. Thus the pews empty out, which, remarkably, convinces that leadership to embrace leftist manners and language more tightly: cut loose by God, let’s be saved by politics.
Christianity brightly distinguishes the realm of civil authority and law from the realm of religious authority, which transcends civil authority and law and has no law of its own. Each realm has its utility, powers and necessity (“Give unto Caesar….”) and neither has authority to control or dominate the other.
The relationship between religion and science is the same. They are about different matters entirely, without intersection, confirmation or conflict. Like civil authority and religious authority, however, they are parallel, indomitable vectors of human experience and history.

Well, Bernie is a Judeo-Bolshevik, a breed of some consequence in the USA. And the US embassy in Tehran was an espionage nexus, as are most such facilities in any country. POTUS Reagan deployed a reinforced company of Marines to Beirut without providing them perimeter protection. When the expectable happened, POTUS Reagan sat on his hands. His GOs and ADMs, like POTUS Trump’s, were dopes and babies. POTUS Reagan was steered by them where POTUS Trump is not. It has taken a long time for Americans, including presidential candidates, to grasp how utterly stupid are the self-replicating supposed solons of the USG.
When POTUS Reagan ordered some retaliation against the Mullahs during festivities called The Tanker Wars, someone, probably his own SecDef, countermanded the order. Again, POTUS Reagan sat on his hands. Retaliation was never given. GWB may have given Soleimani a credible threat to stop deploying shaped charges against US Army Strykers and HumVees.
But from 1979 until 2020, no POTUS answered the Mullahs where they think. POTUS Trump is the second POTUS in the nation’s history to answer Arab/Pan-African Imperialism — which the Mullahs represent, their ancestors being Arabs exiled to Persia — on its own terms, where its proponents think, on their native turf. POTUS Jefferson was the first.

Thanks much. Her exposition convinces this observer as far as it goes. Her point about Trump diminishing the value of the FPE’s credentials and therefore their ROI of time, money, and energy is one I had not considered and am cheered now to recognize as fact.
I concur with her observation that the more Trump succeeds the harder it will be for the FPE to reestablish their hegemony upon his exit. Personally, I estimate that they will never again have the hegemony they enjoyed for these many decades. Reality is too heavy for them. (The Biblical term for heavy is Glory.)
I await the reality-base approach to the larger MENA-USA strategic goal. My studies of that aspect occurred under the title Three Brothers Doctrine, the three brothers being USA, Russia, and India. I think that is the fundamental structure we have in our birth canal, so to speak.
