Update 16JAN17
Something is afoot in MENA, a new alignment is forming,
comprising Israel, Saud, Egypt and Jordan,
that I can see so far.
Not sure how it builds out,
but I think the Muslim Brotherhood and
Salafism in general are going to be overtaken by
a perfect storm,
even in Saud, where Salafism started.
My reading of a Wall Street Journal article on United States Army Transformation and on preparations for the trial of Saddam Hussein inspired the following considerations.
The approach here is unusual though not unprecedented. It proceeds from an epistemology that accepts as facets of knowledge content derived from mediated experience but relies for knowledge itself upon the content of unmediated experience. Please allow me to explain.
The usual approach, at least for the last 200 years in Western intellectual, leadership and industrial endeavor, we commonly call science or the scientific method. This approach accepts as knowledge content mediated by one or more of the five senses. In fact the five senses and their bionic enhancers offer facets of knowledge but not knowledge per se. Sense-based epistemology is powerful and appears not to require participation by a subject in the object of its inquiry. Heisenberg, of course, demonstrated that the appearance of non-participation in the scientific method is a seeming, not a reality. Sense-based epistemology maintains a distinction or split between subject and object and promotes objective observation of items under inquiry.
The approach here taken accepts sense-based epistemology for what it can accomplish but asserts that knowledge is both more and other than the facets of knowledge that are accessible to science. This approach may be termed the ontological method (Cusanus, Hegel, Tillich) or the via negativa (Vedas, Maimonides) or logos epistemology (Pythagoras, the Fourth Gospel, Plotinus, Augustine, Bonaventure, Leibnitz, Bergson). The ontological method accepts as knowledge the content of direct, unmediated experience. Cognition in this method participates in content that is unmediated by the senses.
Ontological epistemology participates in that about which it inquires. It posits ontological identity rather than ontological distinction between subject and object. The subject gives itself to the object and the object to the subject so that each is both subject and object to the other.
A common experience of ontological epistemology is the unmediated participation or knowledge of lovers or profound friends. Common, apparently object-less experiences of ontological epistemology include the primal, insuppressible questions regarding one’s nature, origin and destiny.
In ontological epistemology the subject-object dichotomy intrinsic to sense-based (scientific) epistemology is overcome from the beginning of inquiry.
In this way ontological epistemology, alone among methods of inquiry, can cognize or grasp as knowledge the large picture or immediate realities that the scientific method of necessity cannot access. For example, ontological epistemology is directly aware of the structure and power of being as well as of the threat of non-being and accepts those awarenesses as cognized and therefore employable knowledge. Again, the ontological method is directly aware of the elements of being, the polarities of individualization and participation, dynamics and form and freedom and destiny, and cognizes these elements as significant power and meaning.
Especially section four of this offering, on doctrinal foundation, should be considered in light of the foregoing explanations. That section comprises an expression of knowledge available to the ontological method of inquiry and made relevant, hopefully, for discussions of military operations and statecraft in the Middle East.
Section One: The Hashemites
The Hashemites are the legitimate religious, cultural and political servers in Arabia Deserta, (the Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria).
a- The Sauds are usurpers from East Arabia. British East Indian interests, who successfully lobbied the British Foreign Office on their behalf against the Hashemites, enabled the Sauds to drive the Hashemites from soi-disant Saudi Arabia. The Saud’s symbiotic Wahhabists/Salafists represent a distortion (heresy) of Islam.
b- Democracy depends absolutely on universal education of a relatively high order and the Hashemites are the only servers in the Middle East ready and able to grow universal education there. Democracy in Iraq depends absolutely on Hashemite service to that end.
c- King Abdullah of Jordan should be invited to appoint a religious, cultural and political advisor for U.S. and Coalition Division, Task Force, Corps, Army and Theatre Commanders and also to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington and Coalition Nations.
Section Two: Restoring Government
The Hashemites, only, are able to teach the Iraqis how to govern their country. They have done it before and they are universally recognized in the Middle East, especially by intending usurpers, as the legitimate receptacle of Islamic cultural integrity and Arab nationalism.
a- The Hashemites, only, are able to teach the Iraqis how to try Saddam Hussein. The standard for the trial of Saddam is not Nuremberg or The Hague. It is Amman and Mecca, the Mecca of the Hashemites, not the Mecca of the Sauds. There, in the Mecca of the Hashemites, is the real authority, the true Islam, a word which means Peace and also Sun.
b- The word Islam is cognate with the words Salaam, Shalom and Solomon. These words mean Peace and also Sun. In addition, Islam is cognate with the word Jerusalem, which means My God is Peace, or, My God is the Sun. The Temple of Solomon served a cult of the Sun. The original name of Jesus is Isa, which begins the word Islam. Islam means Jesus is Peace and the Sun. Islam attests the universal criterion of life that is Jesus as the Christ. There is no conflict between Christianity and Islam or between Islam and Judaism or between Christianity and Judaism.
c- The French and possibly the British would help Iraqis learn to govern themselves by betraying them with divisive insinuations assisting hegemonistic aims, as they did before. Lebanon/Syria is a work of France. Saudi Arabia/Israel/Palestine is a work of the British Foreign Office. What peace did France and Great Britain bring the Middle East? What peace did the Hashemites bring Jordan and any mission they undertook that was not attacked by subversion from Europe?
d- The British Army, including Allenby and Lawrence, supported the Hashemites and opposed the French and British betrayal of Hashemite service for the Sauds.
e- That betrayal is a cause of the dis-ease in the Middle East. Correction of that betrayal is a precondition of defeat of that dis-ease.
Section Three: The Enemy
The enemy, worldwide, and chronically and acutely as we face him in the Middle East, is counterfeit clergy pressing counterfeit religion force multiplied by their commissioning of gangs of orphans, lunatics and common criminals. Counterfeit clergy necessarily and only incite violence and war.
a- This enemy infects organizations of all of man’s religions, to include Chaplain Corps of the Armed Forces of the United States. Therefore, Army discussions that include historians, anthropologists, humanitarian-aid officials and city planners should be improved by the enlightening participation of ecumenical theologians who can impart the identifiers of counterfeit and real clergy and religion.
b- As long as counterfeit clergy, Sunni or Shiite, influence Iraq, universal education will be subverted and driven out, aborting democracy in that nation.
c- Only the Hashemites can identify real Muslim clergy and root out the breeding grounds of the counterfeit, the so-called religious schools. These schools are sending minions all over the world to terrorize Islamic congregations into becoming breeding grounds of counterfeit clergy tasked with terrorizing nations.
d- As long as counterfeit clergy, Christian and Judaic as well as Moslem, influence the Armed Forces of the United States, violence and war will be caused by that instrument, whose mission is to stop those horrors by overwhelming their perpetrators and restoring peace to the cities and villages of a nation they are tasked with saving.
i- A salient example of the confusing, deleterious influence of counterfeit clergy, in this case posing as university faculty, is the doctrine of the clash of cultures. An earlier example, from the same faculty, was the doctrine of containment.
e- Only ecumenical theologians can assist senior officers in identifying real clergy for the Chaplain Corps of the Armed Forces of the United States and offer guidance on rooting out the counterfeit.
Section Four: Doctrinal Foundation
The plenary response to volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA) in military operations and statecraft in the Middle East is the doctrine of the multi-dimensional unity of life. Within that doctrine, identifiers of unity, such as cohesion, creativity, loyalty, respect and diversity, are noted.
a- These identifiers function inside the doctrine of the multi-dimensional unity of life. They depend on that doctrine for their meaning (heuristic) and purpose (teleology). They cannot function on their own because on their own they indicate nothing decisive.
i- Diversity can mean promoting murderers as strongly as peaceful citizens. Loyalty can mean to a tyrant or to a saint. Cohesion can indicate a quality of an Army ridding a nation of evildoers or a drug cartel filling a nation with them.
b- The identifiers are adjectival expositors of the doctrine. The doctrine is the nominal form, a description of the phenomenology of being itself actualizing as existence.
c- The doctrine of the multi-dimensional unity of life is the necessary, fecund matrix in which the identifiers — cohesion, diversity, etc. — highlight activity conducing to an acceptable standard, the standard of the holiness, greatness and dignity of life. That standard is acceptable because it is intrinsic to being itself and describes the phenomenology of being (esse in Latin, essence in English) actualizing itself as existence. This standard is the standard of military operations and statecraft in the Middle East and worldwide because it is the standard intrinsic to life.
Section Five: Misogyny and Caliphism
The agenda of counterfeit clergy, worldwide and infecting all religions, is the promotion and preservation of misogyny. The current vehicle for this agenda is Caliphism. Misogyny is the most subtle, obscure, intractable, frightening and devastating form of tyranny.
a- Misogyny is an anti-cultural phenomenon, not a religious one. Real clergy neither originate nor countenance misogyny.
b- Misogyny is entrenched now in three areas of the world: the Middle East, Africa and China. Caliphist misogyny is at bat, Chinese misogyny is on the bench and Iranian misogyny is next up.
c- Jewish misogyny was answered internally during the second half of the 20th Century by the women’s movement, which arose among Jewish women and is still achieving direct and collateral success. European, American and most Asian misogyny was defeated between 1850 and 1970.
Mankind, through its executive agency, the community of sovereign nations as led by India, the United States and Russia, has resolved to defeat misogyny worldwide.
a- During the last 150 years, mankind in principle has defeated oppression from the sources of tyranny easiest to identify: industry, law, heritage, culture, and race.
b- Now mankind has resolved to defeat the most obscure and frightening source of tyranny: the promotion and preservation of misogyny by counterfeit clergy, to include counterfeit teachers/professors and physicians.
i- The United Nations, one of many Rockefeller benefactions, was designed — successfully, be it noted — to allay passion and spread contentment in past circumstances. Its design parameters prevent the United Nations from fulfilling that mission in present and future circumstances. In fact, the United Nations today is spreading passion and discontent, just as any artifact past usability is a contagion. India, the United States and Russia are leading mankind in allaying passion and spreading contentment now and futurely. These nations, on behalf of mankind, are creating the structures that allay passion and spread contentment in modern circumstances. A grateful mankind has no further need of the United Nations or its Divine Proportion (phi) campus on Manhattan?s East Side.
c- Compounding ambiguity in mankind’s resolve to defeat misogyny is the fact that this disorder lingers in nations resolved to defeat it.
Obstructing mankind’s course in defeating misogyny are widely although not universally held misunderstandings, fostered by counterfeit clergy, regarding relationships between religion, culture and law. Misunderstandings occlude vision and thus degrade or prevent problem solving.
a- This phenomenon argues for the participation of ecumenical theologians in Army discussions.
Thank you for considering these thoughts. I hope they are helpful.
