The Church has won the war to establish human values in the national and, in principle, multi-national orbits. It took about 300 years. The Church’s secular message and mission succeeded. Additionally, humanism of all varieties has hidden religious sources and agendas.

Now the Church must preach the Holy, the essential, on the far side of the door before which stands the profane (= before the door [to the Holy]), the existential, the secular, the world.

Church membership is declining because church leaders are retaking old ground, fighting a won war — the easier one to fight — so the spiritually questing are justifiably not interested in the churches. The preaching now must be regarding the Holy, which includes the Heroic and specifically the Heroic in battle.  Jesus with the Pharisees during Holy Week is a Warrior wading into fierce battle to protect His people.  The blizzard of parables is a barrage of truth to destroy the businessmen and scholars sucking up the house of prayer.  He is doing what a king must to protect his realm.  He is fighting for it, and successfully.  The Holy is war on evil.  Thus preach.
