Too pat, not to the point, not crediting MacArthur’s points in Reminiscences. MacArthur is routinely dismissed as self-aggrandizing. This is a grave error made by self-projecting minds. My music composition teacher put it this way to a bumptious student in our class, When you can write as well as Brahms, then you may describe his work as “obsolete” and “beneath regard and study.”
