The Indo-Pacific: Purely Social, Meaning, Purely Political

Countrymen,

Regarding the Indo-Pacific Region, I want to jot down some thoughts regarding the weak points of China’s defense perimeter, namely that perimeter’s hinges.  These should be taken as preliminary considerations rather than final ones.

The northern hinge of China’s defense perimeter is Siberia.

The eastern hinge of China’s defense perimeter is Formosa.

The southern hinge of China’s defense perimeter is Indo-China.

The western hinge of China’s defense perimeter is Tibet.

All but the western hinge of China’s defense perimeter are sovereign nations: Siberia is Russia, Formosa is Taiwan, Indo-China is Vietnam, Thailand and other sovereign nations.

The western hinge of China’s defense perimeter is a subjected nation occupied by China since 1951: Tibet.

Ergo, China’s Achilles’ Heel is the western hinge of her defense perimeter: Tibet.  China herself must maintain that hinge, at great cost and distance from her vital areas, rather than engage with a sovereign nation to maintain it for her and nearer her vital areas.

Against China’s northern defense perimeter stand Japan, Mongolia and USA.

Against China’s eastern defense perimeter stand USA, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Australia.

Against China’s southern defense perimeter stand Australia, USA, Singapore, India, New Zealand.

Against China’s western defense perimeter stand India, USA, some Gulf Arab nations and some of the ‘stans.

With such land masses, peoples, skills, resources and other forms of wealth standing round about her;

and with Communism’s global hegemonic ambitions, as well as the traditional concupiscence of Chinese, inciting her so-called leadership;

it is little wonder China is pushing her eastern defense perimeter as far eastward as she can bluff it out to be and also purchasing land and resources amidst and behind those land masses, peoples, skills, resources and other forms of wealth standing round about her.

Tibet is the weakest point in China’s defense perimeter.

Communism is the enemy inside China’s defense perimeter.

Exactly what was Nixon’s motivation to side with Pakistan?

I commented:

Precedent, ignorance and sloth.  Kennedy’s ambassador to India, John Kenneth Galbraith, a physically towering man, like James Comey and Henry Cabot Lodge, treated Indians as an inferior race.  Gandhi himself was no angel.  And the Nehru family were socialist thugs, allies of the Soviet.  The Paks were not Soviet allies and no one at the time grasped that as Salafists the Paks could be just as nasty as the Soviets if not nastier.  This plus precedent, ignorance and sloth got US allied with Salafist Paks rather than Socialist Indians for many decades.

It was Bush II who finally got some rational thought in place regarding India, partly driven no doubt by the Salafist irrationality of the Paks.

The big-picture exit from the confusion here is what I call Three Brothers Doctrine.

The commenter replied:

Hmm. That would require Russia to imitate western ideas of individual freedom and authentic democratic elections.

I replied:

Not at all.  Russia never has been a representative democracy as we understand that institution and never will be.  Her geography does not allow it.  But it does allow, nay demands, that Russia treat of her borders and near abroad rationally.  Statecraft is about protecting national sovereignty (= national wealth = land, families, constitution).  Morality and form of government are not factors in statecraft.

Historically, Russia and USA are close friends.  We have the same enemy: Western European titled families, hereditary or soi-disant. Lincoln harbored the Russian Navy during our Civil War Between the States and was rewarded with a very generous deal for Alaska.  Russia then was less of a western ideas state than now, but then as now she grasped her strategic position (=borders, need to protect).

USA and Russia are also non-papist Christian nations, which is the reason the Left turned on Russia and Putin after 1991: Leftists hate Christianity, as well they should.  That particular hatred of theirs happens to be, as well, a serendipity of sorts: it facilitates identifying them.

Russia has very good relations with India, the world’s largest representative democracy.  Recall Austin Bay’s essay here on the Quadrilateral.

The Quad is just a light bulb and step away from including Russia.  China is the big world enemy.
