Countrymen,
Anyhow, an improving day was had. I am getting a sense of the logistics of battle in Valley conditions mid-19th Century. You know, it occurs to me — perhaps inaccurately — that as soon as man achieves reliable communications — via rivers, roads, canals, rail and now electronics — someone decides it is time to start a punch-out over who controls (taxes/restricts) those communications. I first got this sense of developmental phenomenology at Chancellorsville yesterday observing Jackson’s afternoon movement on little more than an animal track — with his entire Corps — around the Union flank.
War is not possible unless there is communication. War is not necessary unless someone restricts communication. The purpose of civilization is to build communication and protect its freedom of use. (That seems like a distillation of what I have been thinking as I watch and remember conditions of Jackson and Lee’s Valley Campaign.)

Update 1: National security contradicts globalists’ goals.
Globalists cannot get what they want outside lawlessness. However, their lawlessness tells the lower orders that their lawlessness, should they want it, for any reason, is legitimate.
After alienating military and police, one wonders who globalists expect to enforce their lawlessness.
To rid the nation of entitlement mentality, shake the higher orders — bankers, lawyers, teachers, frat boys and sorority snots. The lower orders must follow when the higher crucify their egos.
In the Valley of the Shenandoah, and its sister regions of rural Southern Virginia, Trump-Pence signs and stickers outnumber Clinton-Cain ones by hundreds to one.
Only upscale neighborhoods of cities such as Lexington and Lynchburg have any Clinton-Cain signs at all, and those are matched in situ by Trump-Pence signs at far better than 4 to 1.
My discussions here reveal conviction that Clinton-Cain is unelectable *anywhere* in the USA except by fraud. Campenni’s point stands.
Update 2: Rural Southern VA is Trump-Pense territory by a factor of hundreds to one. Only Clinton-Cain territories are wealthy neighborhoods of cities such as Lexington and Lynchburg. The class/wealth divide reflected politically is stark. Only the wealthy are happy with their lives these days, or, only those who identify class-wise with the wealthy and want to be liked by them, included by them, invited among them. People who have to rely on their labor and wits and luck are alienated from/by the wealthy by the latter’s snottiness. Not a healthy situation, no matter how ferociously the wealthy stack the deck, manipulate economic and social conditions to benefit themselves and those they know and suppress the lower orders. An old and always unsuccessful impulse among the self-entitled.
These rurals of Southern VA are able to organize. They can take care of themselves if pushed to it and put the hurt — I would say, even the stop — on their cultured despisers. In 1860, the new Republicans had police and military to enforce their policies. Today, the superannuated Democratic-Republican Uniparty (aka Globalists) has alienated exactly the people they need to enforce their policies. Very strange disregard of force vectors. Time will pull back the curtain on the consequences of that stupidity.
Update 3: There is not a political solution to the problems in view. There are cultural, religious and moral solutions to them. Political science’s focus is way down the orders of causality, sharing powers and imports with bar room rants and dog walking. Political philosophy’s focus is way up the orders of causality, sharing powers and imports with weather, devotion and plate tectonics.
There are no splits in the conservative movement. (1) Each one is conservative regarding their ultimate concern. (2) The GOP has joined the DNC to support Globalism and Salafism, simultaneously, because there the money is, the graft, all in the name of fostering peace and comity, of course. Official Washington D.C. is no longer the Capitol of the USA. With rare exceptions, business conducted there is on behalf of anyone not interested in USA sovereign national welfare or security.
The Democratic-Republican Uniparty obliges subversion of American Citizens, for fees to members of the Uniparty … all to benefit the people, the average hard-working American, of course. The Weekly Standard is a D-R Uniparty operation with a soi disant conservative by-line. In a word: liars. In two words: sanctimonious liars. In four words: chief priests and pharisees.
The conservative movement is absolutely united in favor of USA national sovereignty and against Globalist/Salafist hegemony of any kind. There are no splits in the conservative movement. The split is between the D-R Uniparty, who support Globalist/Salafist hegemony, and the conservative movement, aka Americans, who support USA national sovereignty and all that that entails. This makes Americans law-abiding citizens and D-R Uniparty adherents lawless traitors.
Americans need and want a SECOND political party and are finding a way to make one.
I do not read behind pay-walls (imagine St. Paul writing or preaching behind a pay-wall, yet). But from what I gather in post and comments, Steve, in the essay referenced, has spun a fiction. Well, fair enough, it is Halloween-time, anticipating my personal favorite day of the year: All Saints.
