Ecumenical Theology

Religious Basic Training For
Leadership In The Family Of God

This is an offer to lead a year-long seminar at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on the subject of ecumenical theology.  Details are:

  • The purpose of this seminar is an assimilation of intellectual and moral content.
  • Meetings are for clarification of material already digested, through recitation and disputation – the reverse of ordinary pedagogical procedure.
  • Significant dedication to a large amount of work and effacement of personal interests, including “sense of self-esteem [aka ego],” is expected.
  • There will be no exploration of ideas or issues brought by participants.
  • An individual evidencing non-preparation will be dismissed from the meeting and the remainder of the seminar.
  • One third of participants must be between the ages of 12 and 28.
  • If less than one third of participants in any meeting is between the ages of 12 and 28, that meeting and the remainder of the seminar will be terminated.
  • Meetings commence September 2001 and finish August 2002.
  • Meetings will be at St.  Thomas Episcopal Church from 1400 to 1800 hours on the third Sunday of each month.
  • Two meetings will be devoted to the primary work of each of six figures: Gregory Bateson, Teilhard de Chardin, Paul Tillich, Baha’u’llah, Valmiki/Sathya Sai Baba and Seers of Tibet.
