The contemporary academic cohort, especially in the “hard” and “soft” sciences, reminds me of nothing so much as the ecclesial cohort of, say, the late Renaissance.  Violently arrogant, rapacious, mercenary, ignorant as beasts, intelligent as rocks, wasted on power, food and intoxicants and un-reproachable by their own design.  A Reformation of academe is indicated, to parallel for scientia what the 16th Century Reformation of ecclesia did for Religion.  Science is destroying the civilization created by the Latin Church, which is denominated by its cultured despisers with the sneering euphemism, Western Civilization.

They are going for a third/limitless term.  The spouse will not stand for election, so a third/limitless term is the only option.  Back to back in two days, WaPo runs the flag up the pole and Drudge sees it.  Strategy sessions are underway.  All for the good of the country, of course.  Caliphists will front this move, to legitimate and protect it through the propaganda/public relations wars.  They have gotten away with vast lawlessness already.  More of the same as lead-up to the big one – seize third/limitless term – is coming so that the big one seems incremental, ordinary, reasonable.
