The premise of this study is baseless: China have no intention of conducting amphibious operations against Taiwan. What’s in that headache for them? Taiwan is returning to mainland governance by diplomatic stages and majority Taiwanese wish.
Were China to island-hop further westward, it would be to Palau. Taiwan is of no strategic value to China. Palau is if they make Honolulu or the Galapagos an objective for strategic basing.
US has neither means nor will to sustain war on another continent, much less in the middle of an ocean. Start it, yes, sustain it, no, win it, never. Ditto Japan.
CSIS are another CIA front, Neocon death cultists. Their About statement includes:
CSIS scholars bring their policy expertise, judgment, and robust networks to their research, analysis, and recommendations. We organize conferences, publish, lecture, and make media appearances that aim to increase the knowledge, awareness, and salience of policy issues with relevant stakeholders and the interested public.
IOW, Americans generally, and especially as a sovereign nation, be damned, they don’t matter. CSIS live happily in the sealed USG echo chamber, Neocons, like RAND, another CIA front. They think like Germans when they try to think at all, as here: up the middle with the fullback.
China, and especially Russia, do not work that way. Assuming they do or would only marks one as ignorant and self-absorbed: Russia lost the SMO because she didn’t take 2M of her children as casualties in the first week by storming Kiev, the way I would have done, say Neocons, who are a death cult.
Whenever I see or hear the word stakeholders, I know my neighbors and I are of no interest to the writer or speaker. I do so love being dismissed as unimportant.
