American engineering firms used to be managed by engineers. American medical practice used to be managed by medical doctors. American schools used to be managed by teachers. American transportation systems used to be managed by bus drivers, pilots, and trainmen. American churches used to be managed by Christians. American heavy industry used to be managed by entrepreneurs practiced in the engineering and managerial arts. American statecraft used to be managed by families who trained their offspring and individuals who trained themselves to discharge that sacred responsibility dispassionately and with deep knowledge of human nature, deep reverence for the nations and their histories, and deep competence in joint operations of diplomacy, finance, and war-fighting.
Today among Five Eyes and their European vassals, all of these essential functions of nations and societies are managed, at scale, by insurance companies and hedge funds — aka gamblers — ideologues of one persuasion or another, MBAs, accountants, attorneys, good idea fairies, lobbyists, social justice warriors, socialites, unmarried mothers, and a host of other rent-seekers. Inside Five Eyes and their European vassals today, and at the scale where it is needed, none of the essential functions of nation and society is managed by competent professionals. Practitioners yes, producers no, experts yes, engineers no.
Americans have to do now what Russians have done over the last two score years under duress laid on by Five Eyes and their European vassals: pull themselves together and engineer their way ahead to independence and freedom. Make things. Understand things. Do things. And do not be discouraged.
Start with yourself. Do these three things en echelon: (1) practice spiritual discipline, (2) understand — not just learn, understand — your nation’s nature in language, geography, and seminal personalities, and (3) skill-up as a top-level engineer — in skills, not certificates — in one or more of the five professions: Theologian, Medical Doctor, Soldier, Lawyer, Pedagogue.
The Russian SMO has shown at least two militarily significant facts. (1) Russian arms are superior to American arms. (2) And even more importantly, Russian military organization and doctrine are superior to American military organization and doctrine. One can make this assessment because Ukrainians have been fighting with American weapons under American training and top-level strategic and operational guidance. Every chancery in the world is taking note.
Partly it is CIA running their usual screwball cowboy ops with SEALs just for the hell-raising fun of it all. Partly it is Nuland and her gang desperate to depose Vladimir Putin and piece out Russian wealth to themselves and their equally sententious cronies.
But in this case, mostly it is US military officers and NCOs making the strategic and operational decisions either directly or through training protocols. Pentagon have self-exposed as not up to modern war-fighting standards. They are not even a peer of Afghan sheep herders. And the starred officers are unwilling to resign on principle when faced with irrational, unprofessional orders from civilian bosses. This is what’s being noted. Countries are going to resist paying huge costs for US weapons that do not match, much less over-match, Russian and Chinese war-fighting capabilities.
