General Kellogg knows exactly what the Russians are doing strategically, cannot bring himself to admit that they can do it operationally, and so reverses the meaning of what they are doing tactically. In effect, Russia is losing because she is winning, according to General Kellogg. That Russia is winning because she is winning is a thought General Kellogg cannot bring himself to accept much less fathom.
With intellect and commitment to an a priori like that, no wonder senior US military officers present as strategically illiterate, obsessively risk averse, and therefore objects of derision. Senior US civilian officers present as morally degenerate, obsessively self-absorbed, flippant, belligerent, and aggressive.
Victoria Nuland, in this regard, is Madeleine Albright‘s doppelgänger as well as former colleague and employee in both GOs and NGOs.
Weapons, organization, and C2 differentials (Russian vice American) are one critical take-away from the sitrep linked above. Another is the morale of Russian civilians, as shown in several videos at the end.
Others and I have discussed US need to drive fires and command independence down to BN-TF level at least. Even Company level has to have command independence mentality given assumption that, in a direct fight, US C2 would be obliterated early on by Russian ADA and Arty.
Russian fires are so capable, US could not afford to concentrate much force, would need to fight on a broad front with a safe rear. Some 60k Ukies are now trapped under Russian fires at Donbass. Bye-bye Ukies. Some fairly sizable numbers of them have been surrendering in Mariupol, apparently Marines.
I wondered why F-117 was suddenly gone from the inventory. This sitrep likely has the answer — Russian ADA in Serbia (the Albright-Clinton war) could see it — although I recall reports of F-117 being used in the opening days of OIF.
In any case, that disappearance of F-117 may be being recapitulated now with recent reports of USAF suddenly losing interest in the F-22, after, presumably, observing Russian ADA capabilities in Ukraine. I would guess they discovered Russian ADA can see F-22s, which would imply they can see F-35s, which presumably means US air superiority doctrine is toothless, unless suddenly American pilots have developed zeal for Kamikaze, or, USAF goes to remotely-piloted aircraft for air superiority and ground support missions.
The real and only rational solution to all this is, of course, to talk with the Russians respectfully and without guile or hidden agendas, assuming they are intelligent, moral, capable, human beings, to make terms with them, to accept their undying need for border security, and together with them to help calm the nations into building their own multi-polar, multi-variance in-divisible security. It’s so easy to do. So obviously the right thing to do.
Even the Chinese would go for that eventually.
The thought of fighting Russia is irrational at its base. Demonic only is its origin. Fighting Russia cannot be done in any way that God and man would approve.
Just a thought: it might be attractive for Hungary to reacquire the Hungarian-speaking and traditionally Hungarian part of current Southwestern Ukraine called Transcarpathia. I’m sure Russia would not object. Transcarpathians are unlikely to object, it seems, especially with Orban’s popular party in power. Romania might object, but militarily? Romania would go to war with Hungary, and possibly Russia, in order to protect from their traditional national affiliation a territory currently designated by US-EU as Southwestern Ukraine?
I can see Poland moving later towards an approximation of ancient Polish-Lithuanian territory now called Western Ukraine. I can also see Poland and Hungary, at least, renouncing their NATO/EU ties in favor of national independence and multipolarity as the new inter-nation security structure.
I think NATO and EU are over-cooked and bound for the trash bin, and WEF with them, especially so the more they self-reveal as violent, bone-headed fascists compelled by harridans. Momentum on the battlefield in Ukraine is poised to suffocate eagerness anyone in EU has to lock horns with Russian armed forces. CIA, US State Department, and the NSC, always and only belligerent for spending other people’s lives and wealth, are putting the JCS in a vice.
It could be that propagandists such as General Kellogg and DOD’s Admiral Kirby say Russians are losing, Ukrainians are winning, in order to buy time for Russians to close the deal at Donbass BEFORE EU officials induct the Ukrainian Nazis, degenerates, into their organization, making that induction moot and probably never happening. USA-EU has never wanted that to happen anyhow. Ukraine, for them, is useful only as a place to conduct degenerate acts.
Ukraine per se is of no strategic value to USA-EU. Even John McCain knew that.
What’s happening here is that EU nations are counting their trumps and seeing that they have no interest in appalling Russia.
