To United States Leadership

Please do not falter by losing strategic patience with humanity’s resolve to defeat the hegemonistic criminals (aka Caliphists.) who are attacking us.

Our nation has not fought such a war before and we are learning how to do it as we go along. There has been no other way. And we are learning and succeeding from what we learn. We must give ourselves and our leaders room to think and learn and act and evaluate and act again. This is our necessary and unavoidable process.

The Caliphism we face is unanimous in intent to settle this country — indeed, the whole globe — and command it. It would not be a happy time. Already they have made it so.

Three lies are being spread: that our efforts in Iraq are a failure, that our citizens want our efforts in Iraq to cease and our forces brought home and that the Caliphists would leave us alone if we just mind our own business and stay within our borders.

My and my wife’s offspring serve their country in or adjunct to our Armed Forces.

Our offspring say unanimously that our efforts in Iraq are succeeding and that, for our national safety, the welfare of the citizens of Iraq, and the safety of the whole globe, these efforts must be seen through to success.

Every theologian’s impulse within me makes the same affirmation. It is the truth, and we have to live by the truth or succumb to those who are attacking us.

With best wishes,

The Rev. David R. Graham
