Spengler On Ukraine

Chaitanya Jyothi Museum Opening, 2000

RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.

Countrymen,

ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT

For what it is worth (!), I agree with Spengler on this.

Strategic alliance with Russia against Middle East lunacy and China trumps human rights dynamics in … well, really, everywhere.  Let the people on the ground, themselves, sort out their human rights pretensions through ordinary political activity in situ.  Meanwhile, let the Russian bear have his near abroad so he feels safe and push him to help ground the various lunatics in the Middle East and Asia.  I am sure he would be more than happy to help, having tried himself not so long ago.

The old Polish-Lithuanian and Cossack elements can go west and the Russian elements can go east.  They can figure it out.

I did not know about the 2004 betrayal Putin felt, mentioned by Goodman.  This would explain the later term freeze in comity observed between Bush and Putin.  Damn human rights crap again.  There are not human rights in our Constitution.  Nor in the Bible.  There is however, local control, in both, which Bush and EU should have followed in 2004 in Ukraine: butt out, let the locals work it out.  In Georgia later Bush did have the sense to stay away.

Poland threw off the Soviet without US Armed Forces.  Anyone can.  Those demanding human rights should be told:  You want freedom, earn it.  If it is to be it is up to you.  US Armed Forces are for protecting national sovereignty, not for international peace keeping or freedom fighting.
