Countrymen,

Today, two experienced and estimable observers, Sundance and Don Surber, have disagreed on the significance of a specific political maneuvering that occurred yesterday in Washington D.C.  The disagreement compels my attention because, although, apparently, neither Sundance nor Surber sees it, I think the real struggle in hand here is US foreign policy and not, as both Sundance or Surber take it, political machinations.

This is what is at issue:

From The Smithsonian Institution, January 2019

WHY?

The Senate had voted to disapprove withdrawal of USA Armed Forces from Syria and Afghanistan.  Sundance took this as a warning to POTUS Trump that the Senate would vote to convict should the House send them articles of impeachment against him.  Surber took Sundance as not appreciating the situation based on the voters and vote count.  Today Sundance posted, possibly in response to Surber, that he stands by his original estimate of the Senate’s action in re withdrawing USA Armed Forces from Syria and Afghanistan: a warning to POTUS Trump.

In response to all of which, I commented, at the blogs of Sundance and Surber, and with edits here, as follows:

Sundance, I take your point, but, in this case I think Surber is right, and not just for the reasons he gives.  More importantly because, the struggle is over foreign policy, not Wall Street, although Wall Street is connected to the former.

Politicians have power far in excess of that available to industrialists and merchants, much less to journalists.  Politicians do not get bought by the latter, they extort the latter.

USA grand national strategic objective(s) is the center of the dispute.  Wall Street is important only because, in general, they want there to be none of that beyond lying prone while getting looted.  Then there are the patriots who want nothing less than not to be looted and are searching for leadership to make that happen.

But said leadership has to be spiritually strong enough to face down not only Wall Street, on its own a relatively impotent actor, but much more so Communists (D-R UniParty, clergy, Wall Street), Fascists (Deep State/ANTIFA, government bureaucrats, HR and Marketing Departments, so-called tech-industrialists), Bolsheviks (Democratic Socialists, ANSWER, MoveOn, academics), Mohammedans (Moslems of practically any description), and Incompetents (the should-be-institutionalized, such as George Soros, Tom Steyer, Barak Obama, Valerie Jarrett, John Kerry, Sammantha Power).

(That, BTW, can serve as a taxonomy of political parties currently active in USA: Patriots (Main Street, Codevilla’s Country Class, and related), Bolsheviks, Communists, Fascists, and Incompetents.  Five parties, not two or one.)

Basically, the dispute is over whether USA foreign policy is Washingtonian or Wilsonian.  Keep to ourselves and decisively whack anyone who gives evidence of wanting to harm us, or, stick our nose in everyone else’s business in order to make them conform to our expectations for their welfare and development.  Calling this Main Street vice Wall Street trivializes the actors, the drama, and the import of the struggle inside the teleology of history.

Update 1: Wilsonian foreign policy is embodied by Kamala (Sanskrit for lust) Harris:

We have the right to moral leadership of this planet.

That is a threat, not a shibboleth or bromide. It certainly is not the central Christian virtue of self-abnegation.  That is the pure, unmasked Puritan Tyrant demagogue-ing up the demos.  It is also a declaration of war against a nameable array of puissant nation states.

Other than that, she said nothing.  She does not need to.  That one sentence speaks for the entire D-R UniParty, dressing their thievery in bright neon morality talk.  I would not be surprised if CIA and FBI already have teams covering her perimeters.  She is their girl alright.

Update 2: China’s Ominous 40 Year Plan To Dominate The World

Update 3: The longer this goes, the more solid becomes my assessment that top IC professionals are intellectual nincompoops as well as moral dissolutes. Now it no longer surprises me that 9/11 got through to happen, that IC justified Iraq invasion by Saddam’s WMD rather than by the more pungent fact that he, although not the only one, was behind 90’s and 01’s attack on WTC and also 01’s Anthrax distro, which was the 2 of the WTC/Anthrax textbook mil operation 1-2 punch.

Since POTUS Reagan, and even during POTUS Reagan, USG has attracted a huge and increasing number of credentialed low life, in character and impulses effectively trailer trash.

Time to pull way back in both domestic and overseas involvements and regroup on lines of defense and commo we can actually maintain rather than extruding lines of defense and commo which get whacked because there are not enough normal — intelligent, moral — countrymen available to operate them.

With an indescribably stupid yet bumptious — say rather, dis-eased — credentialed cadre impatiently waiting to sweep away remnants of sanity from the ranks of the national stewardship, shortening front — as mil doctrine would put it — is not only desirable but mandatory.

Update 4: Good point, good article.  Emphasizing: vector of USA development is westward, not eastward, away from Old World snits (to include MENA), not towards them.

Geo-strategically, water is wet land.  The same strategic rules that apply to land warfare apply to sea warfare.  The sea is wet land.  The air is thin land.

One implication of that reality is that INDOPACOM is an Army show primarily, not a Navy one.  Current  deployments of thought and dispositions of assets do not reflect that fact.

Navy is a transport and fires support asset.  Marines are an assault asset.  Air and Cyber — and Space — are forward fires support assets.  Army is the asset tasked and equipped (when well) for land-control primarily and assault when needed.

The US foreign policy establishment anchors in the premise that USA strategic interests lie to the east, across the Atlantic.  They do not.  They lie to the west, across the Pacific.  That abyssal error is the source of confusion and mayhem in the assembly and execution of statecraft by the USA’s bi-partisan leadership kakistocracy, essentially mutineers against USA identity and strategic interests.  Until now.  Now, someone is shaking their foundations, thankfully.
