The incoming administration will look at foreign relations as fair trade questions, not as global governance (aka good of humanity) questions. This will pull the spotlight off Russia and onto China. Terrorism will be a stop-it-fast-and-complete question with coordination with Russia, who has the same interest, then on to China and EU/UN bad actors as trade/bad actors questions. In other words, fair trade considerations will determine foreign policy, including diplomacy, finance and war fighting … and to include benevolence. Inter-nation relations (fair trade) rather than international relations (global governance).
The preference cascade (aka generalized Come To Jesus Moment movement) for national sovereignty and away from dopers’ vision of a rules based international community (that exclusively they rule) is occurring now and soon enough will be complete. Even the D-R UniParty will be swept along, crying they believed it all along. Public and private schools, cities and states who fight it will be defunded and ground to pieces. This could not be more fundamental, more elemental. It is a Second American (USA) Revolution and Founding.
General Officers and Admirals who refuse or are unable to lift their coup d’oeil above Russia and terrorists to China will be sacked. Russia and terrorists are not fair trade questions. China is. EU/UN is. Strategic priorities will be governed by fair trade questions.
Calvin Coolidge is the precursor of Donald Trump as best I see. Neither Andrew Jackson nor Ronald Reagan is it, although in the 1980s Reagan encouraged Donald to run for POTUS.
Fair trade in place of global governance will remove US Armed Forces from many if not most postings overseas. Those postings as done by current and previous administrations are classic dispersion of force, a diplomatic, financial and military no no, a weakening of national sovereignty and national security.
Instead, there will be concentrations of force — diplomatic, financial, war-fighting — on salient fair trade nexuses, China and EU/UN in particular.
European nationalists are racing against the clock to protect their countries from USA fair trade policies and Russian superior-though-not-hegemonic-trade policies. Well they should.
In these goings-on, India will surface as the American (USA) and Russian strategic partner.

Update 9: I think these so-called elites are really stupid. Up and down are the reverse of what elites say they are. The elites are the thugs, bottom dwellers, sub-civilized, unrefined boors, lower selves.
The smart ones are those who are tolerant, not ambitious, gentle, kind, fair, careful, loving, studious, who cultivate the happiness of their families, pray without ceasing and accept and savor the circumstances of their life. I think elites have a rendezvous with the confessional, like it or not.
Americans are the smart ones. We have no orders of nobility. We make our way in this breathing world. And a fine way it is.
Ischinger is saying, among other things, that if USA makes bilateral agreements with current EU countries or with Russia without EU concurrence on USA’s side (multilateralism), EU will come fully apart. He is right about that.
And he is also saying that USA going bilateral in Europe and Russia kills NATO and therefore is war on the EU conceived as a unified entity (which it is not). He is right about that, too.
And that is why he and EU mandarins are not reassured by VPOTUS Pence’s language that USA supports NATO and EU. He knows that USA going bilateral in and around Europe ends NATO and EU. And they are right about that, too.
No, looking at it coldly, I’d say the EU/NATO goose is just about home-fried. Better they should prepare to win such war as they feel descending upon them. The actual war descending upon them, did they but know it, is civil war, not inter-nation war. To that fact they are marvelously oblivious.
I just hope the Trump administration does not jump in USA blood and treasure to save the poor dumb bastards from themselves for a third time in a century.
Update 10: Mark Hamilton: You are babbling in ignorance and confusing the issue. Tanks mean nothing. Intent does. Russia has no intent of moving west. Never has except as opportunistically during WWII and through subversion following WWII. But subversion is not armed invasion. Germanics, however, have in recent history moved twice east deep into Russia in armed invasion.
And Trump did not order the ABCT (a pittance force for the land area) to Poland. The Fraud did. A stupid, stupid unzipping of a fly while never meaning to whip out and use the instrument — and everybody knew/knows that. Part of a training exercise portrayed as a bold move. Liars! Update 11: The slogan and organizing principle of President Trump’s administration is America first. As he explained last night: “My job is not to represent the world. My job is to represent the United States of America.”
This is just common sense. Absent the Obama aberration, no president would think to say it.
Calling that line common sense is haughty, sententious spite. The line was the central doctrinal declaration of the speech, and the glance of POTUS and the cameras to the Ds upon its completion was Shakespearean in dramatic effect and de-cision.
Lewandowski said, rightly, long ago that the election was about globalism and nationalism, meaning, we will have one and not the other. In that glance and lens last evening, Ds declared themselves globalists, which is not news, but is now on record, en masse, or nearly so. Roger Simon today wonders if D is dead as a party. If so, their Globalism/Soros-ism is the reason.
It is not nice to fight mother nature (Dharma). And certainly not intelligent.
