RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
Countrymen,
ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT
Stupidity carried beyond a certain point becomes a public menace.
Ezra Pound
The United States’ Intelligence Community has waltzed into the 21st Century with eyes wide shut.
The great delusion of hard and soft scientists — that a person is an electro-chemical mechanism merely — today meets its Nemesis: True Life.
The greatest threat to USA national security is hard and soft scientists’ pretense that a person is a mechanism merely.
Again, it just makes me think the best way to fight and win against radical terrorists is through a powerful network, not hierarchy. The way we are fighting today via vertical silos that have trouble communicating is not a way to win.
Islamist is a meaningless term. Like Christianist or Jewist or Hinduist. It’s linguistic origins are the secular terms scientist and secularist. It’s an effort to reduce a numinous, ontological allegiance to a quantitative conclusion: asserting correlation between realms of discourse and experience which have no sensory connection, only a direct, depth (and non-quantifiable) existential one.
The term of art that should be used to indicate the subject of this discussion is: Salafist Jihad. This term of art also evokes the common thread in almost all Islamist events: Famiglia Saud.
As destructive and evil as Iran’s clerics are, directly and through proxies, in quantity and quality its al Saud’s decades-long support for Pan-Arab Hegemony, through Salafist Jihad, that most afflicts the world. Arab money and Saudi motivation to buy global jihad so far exceed Iran’s supply of either as to make a treacherous canard of the United States Intelligence Community’s common assertion that Iran is the world’s largest supporter of terrorism.
Thousands of schools and mosques, spread through almost every country, produce Salafist warrior clerics and students (taliban) in the millions. Iran has no such ability. AQ, Daish, Moslem Brotherhood (in USA CAIR+) and a host of lesser organizations are branches of al Saud’s Salafist root and trunk. Al Saud and other Arab Salafists generally have bought all of that — and all the slavery, ugliness, death and violence it wreaks — for untold billions over long decades.
With the connivance, through stupidity or cravenness, of every POTUS since 1918. Every one bent, more or less, consciously or unconsciously, by Arabs, al Saud in the lead. So yeah, let’s wag our finger at Iran’s clerics and their US and European cronies, but let’s keep the eye mainly on, and deal realistically with, the menace orders of magnitude larger and more embedded everywhere: al Saud and Pan-Arab Hegemons through their Salafist Jihad.
And I will keep on posturing, preening, and prevaricating. I will endeavor to keep on teasing and dissembling before a fawning press. I will persevere in inventing puerile titles to legislation that mean the exact opposite of what the bill is intended to do. I will never give up my magic asterisks because the freedom to invoke miracles and cast off the shackles of objective reality and evidence-based policy is an inaliable right. And if the GOP lasts for a thousand year, men (and a few odd women) will still say, this was it’s derpest hour.
So many correlations between those persons and groups and today’s Salafist Jihadis, on the one hand, and Secular Globalists, on the other: sex, money, wealthy families, drugs, sodomy, racism, sex, money, ferocity, sadism, universal hegemony, sex, money, deliverance from punishment (by wealthy families and their friends), lionization by high society/media, showboating, sex, money, domination by savage females, sex, money … .
According to Huntington, postwar globalization had given rise to a new class of ‘global citizens’ at the highest echelons of American academia, industry, and (bipartisan) politics—a ‘de-nationalized’ elite whose ‘attitudes and behavior contrast with the overwhelming patriotism and nationalistic identification of the rest of the American public.’ The jet-setting cosmopolitans tended to be far more supportive of free trade, open immigration, and activist foreign policy than most Americans. Huntington described this wide and allegedly growing gap as a major source of the decline in trust in democratic institutions since the 1960s.
Richard, I am uncomfortable with this post. Nothing I can say I disagree with or find wrong. Just, it’s confusing, or maybe I am. It seems shallow. I can’t specify why. I know it’s not meant to be. And many intelligent commenters certainly appreciate it.
I keep looking beyond analytics to craftsmanship, to building up with new lumber and fresh cement, steel, pipe and wiring — on a fresh, realistic architectonic, with modern technology. The world is stuffed with analysts. It’s desperate for craftsmen. And by world I don’t mean voters. I mean the dimension of spirit, geist, pneuma.
If you haven’t done the prep, you won’t know what to do when the weather changes. Wars are won on the drill field, not the battlefield. I’m sure you know the quote. So prep. That’s all I’m saying.
Except this: say your prep out loud so others can think about it, adjust their own, etc. St. Paul didn’t wait for others to be struck by revelation as he was. He was told not to. He was told to get out there and preach. So, grasp the truth and get out there and preach it.
How does a sane world look, sound and feel? Say it. No need to analyze or describe the devil. We already see him face-to-face, any time we turn to news. Describe the true world to the world. There’s more power in that than there is in a thousand thousand rioters and other officials, pundits and professors. That’s what I’m saying.
You think a commie waits for the next thing to happen, oh my?
Top Secret intel is granular intel. I do not see or hear of that. From what I understand, a lot of intel considered important in various corners of the IC is open source, especially NYT, WaPo and WSJ. In other words, the echo chamber of cabals in control, which is not the same as power. In fact, control is much less than power, in that it is both fungible and frangible. Power is neither. In any case, that recalls the line in Strangelove, when the Russian Ambassador says, dryly, about a US state secret upon which he has just dilated, We read it in the New York Times.
Grand intel is open source and non-sequester-able. Even just average horsepower in discernment produces, even from propaganda, the relevant vectors of both action and need. I look at that.
Masses of intel pour in, banks of analysts pour over it … and no one puts it all together. In other words, no grand intel was produced. No strategic-scale comprehension. No coup d’oeil.
Add to that detriment the regrettably customary refocus of intel synopses through political lenses as they reach senior civilian authorities and the chances of sane grand intel entering the nation’s OODA loop race towards zero.
In this speech on third strategic offset, Deputy SecDef said he would do something he did not do: discuss current third offset strategy. He said he would fund efforts to develop a third offset strategy. Hardly the same thing.
That meant he (1) lied and (2) [in a line of predecessors] is at minimum two decades late on the discharge of his duty to protect the nation.
And from a compiled grand intel point of view, that speech raises the question whether this Deputy SecDef and his predecessors of the past, say, 20 years even INTEND to protect the nation, or are they just shuttling money to cronies and extortionists while dissolving national sovereignty through an array of initiatives publicly justified by appeal to a violent construal of the Parable of the Good Samaritan?
Put that together with top admin personnel laughing in public at reporters and citizens believing stories (aka lies) they hear from top admin personnel … and said citizens and even reporters can, on the basis of direct evidence, refer to this Deputy SecDef — and predecessors — and this admin’s civilian minders at least as asshats. … treasonable administration of the national defense comes to mind, quoting MG Billy Mitchell, who qualified the phrase by starting it with the word almost.
Grand intel on this crowd causes one to wonder whether the Deputy SecDef’s speech has any truth in it whatsoever. When people tell you they are telling tales (lies) to hide what they are really doing, and laughing at you for believing their tails, one is justified in doubting the veracity of anything they say whatsoever, surely.
Nor will this do: It’s all for your benefit, so just keep still. We know more than you do, and can handle this better than you can. You don’t need to know. That’s comparable to saying, There, there, missy, don’t bother your pretty little head about this. The men will handle it. Missy would not be amused. Nor would men be.
I think the most substantial contribution Adwaitha Hermitage can make to the national welfare is to discern and scrutinize grand intel, which is open source, and offer it to the attention of leadership eyes and ears such as are available to be offered it.
Update 1: It was a purge, not a coup, and here, and here. Related here, by Glenn Reynolds.
Update 2: There’s also turning al Saud out of house and home and restoring the Hashemites to Mecca and Medina. Not so hard to do. Then, make the Ayatollahs an offer they can’t refuse. That would settle things down. And not even difficult.
Update 3: The goal of Republicans should be to find the right answers to these problems.
What are they? How many years have you and your class and guild had to find them, and not? Just like a Democrat, We need change!, well, yeah, you’ve said that for decades and nothing ever pleases you and you haven’t pleased anyone but yourself and your peers. And you sure as shootin’ haven’t solved the problems you say we have. That’s called prattling impotence where I come from.
The ideas given in the post are about political maneuvering, not problem solving. The problems are intellectual and spiritual, not political, at least not in the first instance.
Yes, Reagan era is over, sitrep far otherwise now, but no, what now passes for conservative principles ain’t worth spit. They have produced exactly nothing, or rather, a Democratic-Republican Uniparty, which is an eight-bit name for nothing. Spengler himself just described Bill Kristol and John Podhoretz with metaphor earthier and rather father through the GI tract than mine here.
Tobin has incinerated a straw man. Typical conservative chinless sanctimony. He grasps the movement the way an ant grasps the ocean. It’s big, buddy, it’s big, and it makes very powerful weather.
It’s a good thing the Democratic-Republican Uniparty is using their bureaucracies to burn down their own breeding sheds — schools — turning their own offspring into mountainous morons.

Update 7: I think these so-called elites are really stupid. Up and down are the reverse of what elites say they are. The elites are the thugs, bottom dwellers, sub-civilized, unrefined boors, lower selves.
The smart ones are those who are tolerant, not ambitious, gentle, kind, fair, careful, loving, studious, who cultivate the happiness of their families, pray without ceasing and accept and savor the circumstances of their life. I think elites have a rendezvous with the confessional, like it or not.
Americans are the smart ones. We have no orders of nobility. We make our way in this breathing world. And a fine way it is.
Ischinger is saying, among other things, that if USA makes bilateral agreements with current EU countries or with Russia without EU concurrence on USA’s side (multilateralism), EU will come fully apart. He is right about that.
And he is also saying that USA going bilateral in Europe and Russia kills NATO and therefore is war on the EU conceived as a unified entity (which it is not). He is right about that, too.
And that is why he and EU mandarins are not reassured by VPOTUS Pence’s language that USA supports NATO and EU. He knows that USA going bilateral in and around Europe ends NATO and EU. And they are right about that, too.
No, looking at it coldly, I’d say the EU/NATO goose is just about home-fried. Better they should prepare to win such war as they feel descending upon them. The actual war descending upon them, did they but know it, is civil war, not inter-nation war. To that fact they are marvelously oblivious.
I just hope the Trump administration does not jump in USA blood and treasure to save the poor dumb bastards from themselves for a third time in a century.
Progressives are angry at their parents.
