Freedom Is A Power Of Being

Chaitanya Jyothi Museum Opening, 2000

RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.

Countrymen,

ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT

Freedom is a power of being, not the let of a government, the leave of a bureaucrat, the brainstorm of a social scientist, the theory of a scientist, the argument of a lawyer, the passion of a professor or the will of a demographic.  Freedom is a power of being.  And it manifests in the dimension of spirit, the dimension of life in which meaning and power unite.  Freedom, in the dimension of spirit, correlates with other powers of being: gravity in the dimension of the inorganic, reproduction in the dimension of the organic, construction in the dimension of the psychic and purpose in the dimension of the historic.

Freedom is the function of structure and the structure of function.  It is the nearest thing to the nature of God — Who is Spirit — man can recognize, experience or know.  Freedom is the essence of morality and the substance of ethics.  It is the subject of sacred scripture, the love of mystics and the telos of theology.  It is even the telos of law.

Let freedom ring.  Let freedom ring.  Free at last.  Free at last.  Thank God Almighty, we are free at last.
