All this life I have wanted to be counted among the most up-to-date minds of the 13th Century. I do believe in hope and change. Hope to be counted among God’s Playmates, change from this mortal frame to the immortal one. That makes me both a Latin and a Greek Christian. For, God admits no one to Playmate who is with sin, and, no one to immortality who grasps triviality.
Some commenters mention that USA is not at war with Iran. If Iran were not at war with USA, these Sailors and/or Marines would have been helped home, not held captive. The evidence so far shows that Iran is at war with the USA and long has been. It is misdirection, therefore, and fiction, to say the USA is not at war with Iran.
Iranian intent in this incident was at least to humiliate American military personally but also, no doubt, many and much more than that. They are at war with us, so that is to be expected from them.
If there is humiliation of the USA and Americans generally in this, that is done not by Iranians but by girls and boys at the White House and Foggy Bottom. Or at least attempted by them, as a matter of policy, I would say.
For myself and my country, I do not feel humiliated by Iranians or domestic girls and boys trying to eliminate our national sovereignty in favor of their global governance. They do not speak or act for me. And besides, I am a Franciscan at heart, beyond the possibility of being humiliated, dispossessed or killed. I husband my energy for the task of preparing intellectual ground for a fresh world order, facing current facts and forgetting all Cold War assumptions and dispositions.

Some commenters raise the question, “What actually happened?” That’s where I start, also. I don’t know.
A Situation Room exists inside the White House. It’s safe to assume current ops run through it. And this NSC are notorious supercharged-world-class-mini-micro-mill-managers, measuring everything against their fantasies, political-bureaucratic advantage for themselves and their global governance cartel rather than existential advantage for the nation. Clearly the sketchiest of info only has been squeezed out through narrative misdirections.
Against that background, I am disinclined to make an assessment of “humiliation,” at least not yet. I’d want to hear and see lots of details first. A plenary evaluation could support an assessment of humiliation and it could support an assessment of far more than that. I just don’t know.

Are we really to believe, at this point, that [The Fraud] has a foreign policy that is in the interest of anything at all but his demented ideological worldview. I am convinced that the reason he prefers ISIL to ISIS is because it implies a total application of the Syrian chaos to the entire eastern Mediterranean world rather than the narrower limits ISIS would imply. The total destruction of Israel, of course, lies within those parameters. [The Fraud] seems to think the whole civilized world is the result of “white man” something-or-other (colonialism, capitalism, cultural assertiveness, Christianity, Judaism, whatever.; take your pick) all of which he viscerally loathes. The only pattern of behavior I see in [The Fraud] is his desire to unleash chaos everywhere in the hope that what once was no longer will be. He is a one man plague of locusts. Somebody explain to me how any of this administrations narratives and policies make sense otherwise.

Barack Obama’s mother and his maternal grandparents were Unitarian. Some of the most irritating aspects of his personality aren’t actually foreign at all, but are very (and almost uniquely) American – and specifically a distillation of the most annoying stereotypes of Unitarianism. From the exaltation of the exotic to arrogant hectoring to trendy politics to breezy abrasiveness to cultural obtuseness to interminable deliberation, it’s all there. Strangely enough, his commentary would be easier to take if he were Moslem. I don’t think he is. The ideological influence of Communism, the cultural influence of Islam, and the political influence of black nationalism are all there, but the Unitarianism of Barack Obama’s upbringing should not be underestimated.

Spot on! And probably you know that Unitarians descend from Puritans — specifically through/at Harvard. They, along with Quakers, also opposed forming a US Constitution. The violent arrogance of Unitarianism descends from Cromwell through USA Puritans. BTW, it was not Puritans who landed on Plymouth Rock. It was Separatists, also Calvinist, but a different breed from the Cromwellian Puritans, who came later, and their descendants, Unitarians, who may be compared with English Roundheads. That is who occupies the White House today, looking to rule the world tomorrow: Roundheads, Cromwellians.
Update 3: There is chaos at the heart of this administration. Procedural chaos, moral chaos, intellectual chaos. And spiritual darkness. They can’t even give read-aheads for meetings because the child-aged staffers call meetings spur-of-the-moment and cancel meetings five minutes ahead of meet time.
Virtually everyone in professional D.C. is aware that there is no national policy or strategy guidance from the White House that faces facts; that decisions, such as they are, are made and reversed and transformed on-the-run and conform, if to anything, to an esoteric list of Fanon-ish grievances that answer neither physical, moral, national security, intellectual or spiritual phenomena, or standards of reason. Even globalists, who had hoped so much from these nubile ubermenschen to demolish national interests and sovereignties, feel cheated of their rewards.
A healthy response might be to step back and break into gales of laughter.
However, in betweenst those, the intellectual class is duty-bound to be redrawing the maps, reacquiring the authority — not the power, the authority — to lead, restoring people’s will to live and freely. Everytime I hear the words “conservative” or “liberal” etc., I hear a carbuncle growing or a barnacle impeding motion.
Everyone knows how unsafe life in these US is, everyone not drooling in drugs. Everyone complains, most everyone makes snide comments, sarcastic prognostications. Who is thinking, writing and speaking about a moral, intellectual and spiritual stochastic structure, a new being, which transcends that condition … and how that is happening? Anyone?

Related: “Whom to blame?” Boehner and Ryan, The House, for not initiating impeachment proceedings. That’s the step voters were looking for in 2010 and 2014. They suspected the Senate would not convict but they tried in ’14 to make it so it could.
That’s the other stone in voters’ shoe, besides immigration/global governance.
Cowardice and greed infecting the protected class. The burden of those maladies is what voters are looking to get out from under. They will find a way. Human nature will not be unfree.
The protected class has no intention of renouncing cowardice and greed, are doubling down on burdens created by their deployment, throwing more stones in voters’ shoes. Calling voters’ cries of pain weakness.
