UN Climate Talks: The Ritual

At Rantburg today, Besoeker makes a post that concerns the legacy of President George W. Bush.  The post elicits some lively chatter, worth attending, IMHO.

One commenter noted:

I feel like the will to *win* vanished far too early.  The destruction of war should have continued until the will to resist us ceased to exist.  Only then would a democracy had any chance to emerge.

I replied:

Ditto.  My 2c, two crucial matters GWB and his orbit failed to address:

1- They failed to attack Islam as the political movement masquerading as a religion that it is

2- They failed to bring the nation as a whole into the fight, resolved to compel the enemy to surrender (renounce his will to aggress) and occupy his heartland, Iraq, until his women share the rights, status and activities of full citizenship and his men let their children grow in peace and quiet.

They were right to hit Saddam.  He was behind both attacks on the WTC as well as the DOD and anthrax attacks.  But they were not serious about the larger enemy or the depth and breadth of his order of battle.  They essayed to fight a global war against an enemy they failed to define — but knew they were fighting — with < 1% of their population, encouraging > 99% to live unconnected to the < 1% who were fighting, as if at peace.  This is called being not serious.

GWB is a good man who had numerous bad advisers — Moslem Brotherhood, al Saud, Grover Norquist and Poison Ivy League pedants — and as POTUS was unequal to the responsibilities powers of being threw at him.

Update 6: Depots of WMDs, various kinds, usable and unusable, were in Iraq pre-2003 invasion.  More had been just before, was moved to Syria, where some has been used.  Depots were there for Desert Storm, also.  Bushies in 2003-2004 decided to not report out said WMDs as WMDs.  Why I do not know.  That allowed the “Bush lied ….” hysteria.  Rove admits he should have pushed back against that lie.  I say not pushing back cost Rs Congress in 2006 and now probably the Supreme Court in 2016 as well.

But there are two far more powerful arguments for invasion of Iraq: Saddam 1- messed about obsessively on everyone’s front lawn (e.g., supporting AQ) and 2- was the nation-state support for both attacks on the WTC and the anthrax attack secondary to the second WTC attack.

Besides not admitting the presence of the WMDs in Iraq, GWBs errors and failures were:

1- not putting the entire nation on war-footing (likely related to not admitting the WMDs, which would have argued for full war-footing)

2- not identifying the enemy: Salafist Jihadis (likely because that would point to al Saud and argue for removing them and their clerics from hegemony in Arabia Deserta)

3- hiring CAIR to advise in all elements of the Executive Branch (i.e., giving the enemy, Salafist Jihadis, a seat at your table, the kind of thing John Kerry does; Kerry and both Bush POTUSs are fraternity brothers, not immaterially)

Update 7: Hillary Clinton’s Moslem Brotherhood Connections Date From 1990s and include Grover Norquist.

Update 8: This is evergreen: YEP: After boasting for three years that he “ended” the Iraq War, [The Fraud] says it was Bush’s fault.

Update 9: There were WMDs in Iraq.  This writer give a dodgy explanation for why GWB did not counter the lie that there were none: George W Bush accepted the lies and criticisms against him because he felt it might be harmful to the morale of our troops and could hurt our intelligence community if the details got out.

Update 10: The Daily Signal, house organ of The Heritage Foundation, writes Caliphists’ lulling propaganda for them.
