RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
Countrymen,
What can be done? They hate beauty because they are ugly. They hate freedom because they are stymied. They love chaos because they can build more of it.
They are so unintelligent. They are so many. They are so rich. They control so many otherly-purposed institutions. They are so ruthless. They are so sanctimonious. They never self-correct.
What can be done to save this beautiful, free and well-ordered country from them? Oh, how they hate her! Oh, how they despise and fear her citizens! Oh, how they work to turn the country upside down and shake out her wealth into their private pockets! How does one correct a filthy, rotten leadership?
By building one which is clean and strong.
I will bless and vote for leaders who embody this five-point standard:
1- They are experienced in some type of farming.
2- They are experienced in horticulture and arboriculture.
3- They are experienced in backcountry hiking and camping.
4- They are comfortable using handguns and rifles.
5- They are educated in some type of engineering, but not social engineering.
Update 1: Richard Fernandez at Belmont Club, the online intellect with whom I feel the most simpatico, approaches the subject of what to do in his own historically-grounded essential-existentialist — as contrasted with a-historical loosy-goosy-nominalist — manners of care and thought. The essence of his approach is directly to experience and thus assume, rightly, that reality comprises self-creating, self-organizing and self-maintaining powers of being — such as life itself — which trend, by their own intrinsic power, upwards and forwards towards unity in their source. He is a theologian of the line of John, Augustine, Bernard, Bonaventure, Luther, Tillich and Benedict XVI. Fernandez is an authentic voice of Christian Logos Theology unpacked into Koine English.
Update 2: Ignore The Dire Warnings About Our Lives Because It’s Just Hysteria
Update 3: A most compelling post, thank you! Puts me in mind of Teilhard de Chardin, who saw in the hard sciences of geological and paleontological process and result the phenomenology of divine life, of God alive and kicking, so to speak. A novel immanentalism of sorts, precedented but unique in the history of Christian thought. Here Fernandez sees in structural engineering attitudes phenomenological actualities of social engineering assumptions, deftly expressed. Other commenters also appreciate this post’s brilliant helpfulness.
