Dan Riehl is correct, needs saying, glad he mentions this. Big picture.
Correlative observation: historically, the absence of a central organizing entity (can be one or multiple nations) and set of philosophical (including religious, cultural and moral) principles almost guarantees the rise of fascism of the right wing type as opposed to the left wing type.
Left wing fascism (i.e., communism in our parlance) is invited by economic and political freedom and specifically those enjoying its benefits who desire to privatize them.
Right wing fascism (i.e., fascism in our parlance) is invited by economic and political anxiety (means “narrowing”) and specifically those willing to exploit it for the satisfaction of personal lust (concupiscence, the desire to consume everything insight).
At the moment, both the USA and the world are in conditions which invite right wing fascism more than left wing fascism. Their anxiety is greater than their freedom.
So-called “Democratic Party” leaders happen to be accurate warning about the rise of right wing fascism in the USA, but their warnings are hypocritical because they will not admit that their communism caused the anxiety which invites the fascism they fear. It in fact, they ARE the fascism they fear. They converted from communism to fascism in the late 1960s and showed it off at the notorious 1968 Democratic National Convention … not inside the convention hall but outside it, in the streets!
In fact, the right wing fasciste du jour is far more likely to arise from the so-called “Democratic Party” than from the so-called “Republican Party” because the former is the more complicit in creating, propagating and driving anxiety than is the latter.
Nor is it beyond reasonable argument that such has already happened. The Democratic Party is a complete fascist party since 1975.
The Theologian Paul Tillich read the possibility of a rise of right wing fascism in the United States as far back as the 1950s precisely because of the then-clear dominance-in-principle of communist sentiments, activities and ideologies among the academic faculties, who exercise ultimate control of a nation’s destiny.
Personally, I see the United States at least — and the world if they can — under the sole of Imperialistic Black Fascism, temporarily aligned with Imperialistic Mohammedan Communism.
Illustration: the degree to which a perpetually, irredeemably wretched nation of zero deserving — but Black — pivots the peace, wealth and consciousness of the United States — and, to them, should be the whole world — to rest fixedly upon them as they demand.
