RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
Countrymen,
ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT
I am not unsettled by the shooting in Connecticut. Not unsurprising for people in their affluent, alienated circumstances, refusing to handle a problem: sick child. Meanwhile, 20+ black children are shot every month in Chicago alone and no one bats an eye. But let it happen, by one of their own, to rich white people in an elitist, blonde, coiffed and painted Democratic Party stronghold and the world has to pay by turning those who had nothing to do with it into demons and, ultimately, sitting ducks. And, the same pickpocket who wants to suppress a right recognized by the Constitution – not conferred, recognized as pre-existing the Constitution – gives a squadron of F-16s to the murderous Moslem Brotherhood and thousands of semi-automatic weapons to a Mexican drug cartel, who kill Mexicans and US officials with them. The sarcasm and revolution write themselves.
(There is a difference between an automatic and a semi-automatic weapon. Look it up if you don’t know what it is.)
Scalia taught Kagan to shoot and now they’re hunting buddies. I deplore hunting because I am vegetarian, but I encourage everyone to learn to understand and use a firearm as a universal tool, like any other.
I would like to see firearm training at home and public school and continuously through adult life normal (again, as it used to be), from at least age 12, along with math, chemistry and football, etc., and make owning and safe-keeping a firearm and ammunition for it a universal requirement (as do the Swiss), except in the case of those clearly not rational. Like driving a car. Those not rational will show up in the early and continuous training and can be weeded out just as they are now, for the most part, in advanced education in technical fields and in vehicle driver training.
I am strongly in favor of “gun control.” Everyone mentally competent should know what a firearm does and how to control it. It’s a tool like any other. That is all. Just as we expect universal motor vehicle operation expertise. Same logic, same principle, same program. And of course the numbers of Americans dead in automobile-related events yearly is orders of magnitude larger than those dead in weapon-related (all kinds of weapons) events yearly. Anyone calling for banning automobile use? Or alcohol consumption, or fast foods?
Legislators, doctors and parents should be looking at their own priorities for what’s important for individuals in a community, a state and a nation. They have closed facilities, shorted programs and relied on “hope” and “good intentions” – all recipes for disaster. Firearms have nothing to do with it. Just as many can be slaughtered with a knife, a hammer, a little home-made chemical, etc. The problem is the wacko and the community that “tolerates” him or her because of their pathological altruism (the devil in a pleasing shape).
Chicago has the nation’s highest violence rate involving firearms and also the nation’s most limiting firearm laws. The areas of the country with the most firearms are those least prone to violence involving firearms. Well-known stats the hysteria mongers won’t talk about because they doesn’t fit their narrative/agenda. But the stats are all in public view for anyone who wants to research them.
The firearm should have been in a safe the child could not open and, more to the point, the child should have been institutionalized, either as mental health or as criminal. The mother seems to have come to that realization late. She paid for being the ultimate culprit in this case. And then there is the broken home. What does one expect in such conditions, peace? Break a home and only war can follow. And it takes two to tango.
No I’m not unsettled by the shootings. But the nation, and more importantly, families are unsettled by the further evidence that public schools are kill zones. They have been for years. (And more than bodies are killed there.) Schools and malls, and mostly schools. Public schools, usually the compulsory ones. Why is that? Why take it out on children and teachers? Who let schools become kill zones? They were not when I was in public compulsory school. This was unheard of. We were expected to work. Who’s in charge of these so-called schools that produce a product far inferior to many of their overseas counterparts? Want to find a culprit? They’re in front of us: teachers and professors.
When our daughter and I were on our cross-country road trip last spring, I kept remarking to her, observing the worlds we passed through on the old US Highway system (we avoided freeways), “Too much time, too much money.” That’s what I saw. Idle hands in frivolous pursuits.
Killings in public kill zones in those circumstances are to be expected more than grieved. As dependency on government handouts spreads and political/economic cronyism further reduces social cohesion – separating the few favored from the many un – such events must increase in frequency. Not only here but also overseas. USA leader cadre can’t even bring themselves to defeat an enemy now, on the pretty dream that there are no enemies, only people to be brought around with bribes and soothing talk. The mother in Connecticut found that to be not the case. Perhaps it has occurred to her neighbors now?
We’re in a period of disintegration from within intentionally driven by pickpockets in fancy suits and mega-mansions who have no thought for the morrow beyond keeping the general populace entertained and fed while they live high squandering the nation’s wealth.
Bonhoeffer was right: religionless Christianity.” Christianity without the trappings of religion. There is no place for religion in the USA now.
