RAMANAM
In the Name of The Father, and of The Son and of The Holy Spirit, Amen.
Countrymen,
I am in Sandpoint, ID at Best Western Resort on a lake of the Pend Oreille River next an RR mainline. Train at full speed every 30 minutes at least. 🙂 We do pay for our jollies. MY BALCONY OVERLOOKS THE LAKE! 🙂 Yelp did not mention the sound effects. Still, better than Raymond, WA next a 24-hour logging truck check-in back in whenever-the-hell-it-was I transited US 101 and CA 1 south into CA.
[Woke up next morning with a nasty spider bite behind left shoulder, had to dress it daily rest of trip.]
US 2 from Monroe to Spokane is a lot more interesting than I-90. A WHOLE lot.
Ten hours on the road today. Too long.
I by-passed Grand Coulee Dam because of time. It is a side-trip off US 2. Mommy and I saw it some years ago.
US 2 rises at least 3k feet above the Columbia heading east, which was spectacular.
Tomorrow to West Glacier, MT and as far up the Highway to the Sun in the Park as allowed. The complete transit is already closed for the season. West Glacier commercial teepees, where I have space tomorrow even, close at the end of SEP.
Have to plan to get past Browning, MT without stopping for anything, hometown of Blackfoot Reservation, extremely dangerous area/barbarians. Plan jump Friday from West Glacier on US 2 to Havre, MT. Havre, MT to Minot, ND in the 90s next two days, then they and rest of US 2 cools down.
Janie says see Sault Ste. Marie locks, in the MI Upper Peninsula (UP). Not too far off US 2 but a side trip. Also Mackinaw Grand Hotel. Comparable to Greenbriar in WV and Coronado in San Diego. There is a bridge across the Mackinac/Mackinaw Strait.
