Patriotism, Not Principles; Power, Not Ideology

Countrymen,

ORBIS NON SUFFICIT
SOLUS DEUS SUFFICIT

Steven, you’re moaning.  Ivana Trump has said that RR encouraged DJT to stand for POTUS.

The issue at trial is national sovereignty.  Ideology/principle is not.

Conservatives have protected no one but themselves, as a very small, privileged, opaque clique at that.  And they join with Liberals to dissolve the nation in favor of something they say is better, some dream they have they think they control: Globalization, Globalism, all for my benefit of course but I of course have nothing to say about it.  I’m just an ignorant, marginal hick.

Meanwhile, conservative/liberal principles in service of globalization have left me unprotected, my children sneered at from limousines (also here) and my grandchildren in debtors’ prison before they’ve reached adulthood.  Piss on principles.  I’d be happy with a meal of truth stuffed with compassion.

National sovereignty, or not.  That is the question.  Power, not principles.  Morality, not conservatism.  Spirit, not law or economics.  Conservatives principles gave us the Scottish Clearances.  We want sheep on these lands, not men.  Sheep cost less and pay more.  Conservative principles.

Now I’m moaning.  Neither of us deserves respect for moaning.

Update 1: Kurt Schlichter: Liberals’ Kids Get The Golden Ticket While Yours Get Scraps

Glenn Reynolds: To Reduce Inequality, Abolish The Ivy League

Update 2: Everyone with the welfare of the country at heart is trying to transcend the liberal-conservative ideological dichotomy.  They are trying to shed allegiance to ideology all together, in favor of trusting facts, families, constitution and land.  It feels to me like a stalk pushing upward through the dirt to reach the sun so it can flower and fruit.

Update 3: The Daily Signal, house organ of The Heritage Foundation, writes Caliphists’ lulling propaganda for them.

Update 4: Now this is significant, about Hirsi Ali, discussing Donald Trump.  I have always been suspicious of this girl.  A self-promoter is always insane, and a liar.

Update 6: There is a theme here that has been touched upon a bit around the web.  I don’t know a pithy term for it, quite, but it’s something like this: the setting of legislative power and the rising of executive power; meaning, loss of voice by citizens (through their legislative reps) and gain of voice, overwhelming voice, by the executive (through *his* bureaucrats).  John Robson on Trudeau makes the point.

This imperious behavior, striking the property fundamental of human nature and English Common Law, and made more galling by being wrapped in the pretense of moral and religious sanctity, makes one feel desperate.  It’s not good for one to feel desperate.

I think there is more disgust with Republicans, for betrayal of their constituents and their word, than there is for Democrats, whose consistent anti-polis sanctimony is never sequestered.  Makes one consider being a Democrat in order to avoid being disappointed, and desperate.

Really, it makes one pray God for the creation of a second party, so we can get back to dancing instead of, as now, smoking dope in the bathrooms.  A Christian party would meet the need.  Classical Christian.

Related: Interesting and believable. The part that jumps out at me: … remember, this stuff has gone on for about 10 years ….  Yes!  D-R ruling class has been planning AFFH for long.  Hardly starts with The Fraud’s gang.  Also makes a point I tried to make yesterday: The Fraud is a bred-for-action figurehead of the D-R ruling class, specifically through their CIA and foundation fronts.

The basic concept of AFFH/regionalism I’m sure could be tracked back many, many decades, probably a century or more.  And its R-D ruling class stable-mate today, and for over a century, is Global Governance.  They really do want world domination at both macro and micro scales, simultaneously.  And they’ve wanted it for a very, very long time.

Donald Trump is not part of that.  Neither is Ted Cruz, though he belongs to a much smaller and competing world domination ring.

We’re really not talking principles here.  We’re talking inner leanings, existential impulses.  One for live and let live.  One for consume everything.  One for cheer.  One for concupiscence.

Update 7: Well, my bad, again.  Too cryptic, again.  Permit me to try for clarity.

It seemed to me Wretchard’s post distilled to something like freedom and happiness hinge on untrammeled property, by which I’m sure he meant private property (a ground of both English and Scottish Enlightenments, the which with the German and French Enlightenments strongly ground USA Americans), which includes a person belonging to themselves, in contrast to everything, including persons, belonging to a state, as state property, either directly (Communism/Tzarist Russia) or indirectly (Fascism/Crony Capitalism).

I attempted to point out, I admit cryptically, that in parallel to that truism is another: that the phrase free enterprise (AKA free markets, open markets, open society, open borders, etc.) is a verbal blind that can veil some effusion of Fascism/Crony Capitalism, whereas, in contrast, the phrase private enterprise cannot, best I know, be so engaged.

Every enterprise is mewed about somehow and other.  The human condition, itself, is conditioned.  But where that enterprise is private, rather than merely free (which none at all absolutely is), and that privacy is enforced, there abide conditions for existential freedom and palpable happiness.  And that’s what we want.

I was trying to deepen and broaden the applicability of Wretchard’s point, which just as it is I think is vitally important.

I am content that questions of modern national sovereignty and strategic goal are settled in principle (my take).  I think Wretchard’s post here indicates, rightly, that the focus now is on grasping the lineaments of domestic tranquility.

Update 11: However, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that no such star is high on the list of those being mentioned.

Assuming those stars actually have light sufficient for a career of staring, I’m glad none is on Trump’s short list — precisely because they are political stars, careerist professional politicians!!!

I’d like in office anyone BUT a professional politician, anyone BUT one who craves the office, anyone who is NOT thinking about THEIR future.  The very mind-set which produces the concept of a political star with a future I find smug, anxious, cynical, elitist, and un-American.

If you want my vote because you want your concept of a career for yourself, you don’t give a damn about my soul and you don’t deserve my vote.  You deserve the sole of my shoe.

Update 12: From Jolie-Pitt To The Jolly Pit Of Globaloney

Update 13: Angelo M. Codevilla: Replacing The Republican Party

Update 14: Kurt Schlichter: All This ‘True Conservative’ Talk About ‘Principles’ Is Just Another Lie

Update 15: Glenn Reynolds: Abolish the Ivy League.  I commented:

The Ivy League is church-made. Abolish the churches to abolish the Ivy League.  Not so hard to do. Find them by law as political fronts.  The churches, I mean.

The Church is exclusive, not inclusive.  That fact will abolish the Ivy League, all on its own, not just talk about abolishing it.  “Have no God beside me.”  You do not get more exclusive than that.  Make that point, miracles will happen.

Update 17: Nick Skildum: A Veteran in College: The Problem With Identity Theories

Update 18: Glenn Beaton: Will the Dem left dox the pilot of that Reaper drone?

My comment:

It is ideology.  More than hatred, fear, anger, etc., it is ideology.  The biblical term for that weakness is idolatry, taking something that is not ultimate as ultimate.  A person who is a genuine vehicle of power can be recognized by the characteristics of truth, kindness, love, patience, forbearance, and gratefulness.  Wherever these reside, ideology, like ego, cannot go; it has no place.  Elijah on Carmel facing the Priests of Baal is an image increasingly impressing itself on my mind as a fruitful template for grasping what is going on in our sometimes seemingly chaotic country.

  1. Hi David. I followed you over from Belmont Club. Interesting blog you have here with intriguing links. Your Three Brothers proposals is a 21st Century approach that deserves a consideration. I will return for more posts.

What’s up with the pin-ups, ha ha ?

    1. Joan,

Thanks for visiting and commenting! And for noticing the Three Brothers proposal. I think it is worth consideration. I think it is what’s actually emerging, willy-nilly by dint of circumstances. Cold Warriors we do not need.

I post updates to previous posts more often than I post posts, so I don’t have new content frequently and in consequence appreciate visitors. Rarely do I post on current events. Usually it’s strategic/theological affairs that engage my energy, such as it is.

The Three Brothers proposal developed from long consideration of, and many posts regarding, the matters of national sovereignty and national strategy as well as from the nub of an idea I heard from India decades ago. Search the site for “strategy” and “sovereign” (top left corner, click the three parallel bars to raise the side bar with search field) and posts on those topics will list most-to-least recent.

The pin-ups are to repel prudes and gratify producers.

Thanks for your posts at Belmont Club.

      David
